Administrative Processing?

I am curious to know if administrative processing, after visa approval/interview, is usual for Canadians. I am just getting excited, because my case is on it's way to Vancouver. I have been reading some posts about AP and it makes me a bit nervous that this process could take longer than it already has. Besides I want to put in my 30 days notice for my apartment. I think that AP has something to do with terrorists or something. So if that's the case I have nothing to worry about.

Has anyone been through AP in Canada?

Check out this thread - it's all about AP for Canadian beneficiaries.

AP is when the beneficiary has a name that triggers matches on different databases that are most likely related to homeland security.

If you work in a biological field or something similar that the US thinks may threaten national security you can be put into AP as well. But generally speaking if you're white and a several generation Canadian you should be fine. It's best not to do what did and wait until after you have your visa to quit. I am bad. ;)

Also, if you are a naturalized Canadian or your parents were naturalized Canadians from one of the countries the US finds 'threatening' you may end up in AP. The only other ones I have noticed is for individuals who have an advanced degree - doctorates or such - in any of the science who end up in AP. They have usually been required to submit a CV. It does seem to relate to US National Security - because the US suspects such individuals may have access to 'advanced' knowledge that they may wish to use against the US - geeze!

Other than these instances and the ones already listed, AP is not a very common occurrence for Canadians.
