URGENT question - USCIS not accepting Fed Ex deliveries

I just discovered (from FedEx directly) that the USCIS Chicago address on S. Dearbon St. -- listed as the place to send "commercial courier" deliveries and express mail (USCIS, Attn: FBAS, 131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor, Chicago IL 60603-5517) -- will not accept FedEx deliveries!!!

I intended to use them for same day delivery of a concurrent filing of I-130 and I-485 tomorrow, and now I don't know what to do. I wanted the forms in tomorrow. What to do?

Even worse, if the courier requires a signature for delivery confirmation, it may actually take longer to get accepted, if no one is there to sign for it. I have seen that happen, where a week, or more passes, before somebody finally signs for it.

Send USPS with a tracking number so you an track it, keep it simple.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

This is a potential "age-out" situation with a child, who needs the I-130 (at least) "filed" before next Thursday 8/22 (and a weekend is coming up). That is why I was hoping for at least delivery tomorrow. Package is in the city of Chicago now, and I am trying to decide how to ship it so it gets "filed" in time. I wish I could drop it off in person.

FedEx and UPS don't deliver on Saturday, USPS does. If I was you, I would send 2 identical packages - one regular mail with tracking, and one express mail. Both will get there Saturday, but no one will be there to sign for express mail. Regular mail with tracking will be delivered Saturday

Express mail also has a "Waiver of Signature" feature, that does not need a signature, but will be scanned so you have proof of delivery. Also is cheaper than FedEx.

Weird. I sent mine FedEx (from Canada) and had no issues. Must have changed their rules since last year.

I am considering trying FedEx same day early in the morning, despite the warning from their staff that this is a problem address for them and that they cannot guarantee delivery -- and if this is unsuccessful, sending it out via USPS.

The address for joint filing is at the bottom of the page. If FEDEX is stating that address is troublesome, I suggest you use the USPS address and pay for the next day delivery.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I sent mine via fedex on july 30th and it has been accepted.

Also, I sent my I130 package via usps express last year and they almost lost it. They had no clue where was it and tracking didnt get updated. They told me tracking was only a "service" they offered. They were not obliged to update it. Then after lots of calls it suddenly re-surfaced 15 days later. No refunds either by the way.

And this is not the first bad experience with USPS.

FedEx or UPS work fine. The USCIS address might not be in their internal systems to guarantee delivery, but that's not a big issue.

In general, if possible, I'd recommend using USPS Express or USPS.

USPS Express can go to the USCIS PO Box or non-PO Box address.

Waive signature if desired/necessary.

USPS is a gov't agency. USCIS is another gov't agency.

These are suggestions, not legal advice.

USC and spouse went through AOS from F1

Now, removing conditions on permanent resident status.

Well I went with FedEx, deciding to give it a try anyway, even though people at FedEx themselves told me they probably could not deliver to that address (and they even warned me they would not honor any delivery guarantees), and guess what - it was delivered!!
