Packet 3 Frankfurt Embassy

Hello everybody,

I have a quick question. I received the letter for packet 3 in the mail today and in there it says that I should follow the instructions on a website.

Now it is saying on there that I should send the DS-230, DS-156 and DS-156K plus a copy of my passport data page. And the next step is to send all the required documents such as birth certificate and so on.

So my question is: Do I send two letter to the embassy??? The first with all those forms and the second one with the required documents? Am I only supposed to send this to the Frankfurt embassy? (it also mentions a DPO box adress)

Also for those DS forms: The DS-156K says to attach birth certificate and all sort of other documentation with it. Are those documents asked for in the DS-156K, additional to the document checklist that I am supposed to send in? Or is the application only complete after I submitted both DS- forms and other required documents from the checklist? http://photos.state.gov/libraries/frankfurt/9318/consular_pdf/Instructions%20for%20Immigrant%20Visa%20Applicants.pdf

Thank you so much for your help.

Inga

Hey Inga! :) You have to mail them all at once. Follow the K1 checklist link http://photos.state.... Applicants.pdf and thats all you have to send in, meaning the DS-documents, and everything from number 1 - 10 plus the request for Interview page (page 3 of the checklist) and all documents that need to be mailed for the I-134 evidence of support (employment letter, tax returns, bank letter, paystubs etc.)

Thank you so much for your answer :)

I am so happy and relieved that I understand and I feel confident again. The only thing is that they are saying: Please send those forms in immediately! If you not do do it will promptly delay your process.

I mean if I take a week to gather this one last document i still need it is not going to delay it for months, right?

And the one big letter with all documents AND forms are only sent to the Embassy in Frankfurt (in my case)?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I couldn't be morr thankful for your guys help!!! :)

No, take the time you need to gather everyhing. They just mean if you already have it ready then it will go faster. For example I had everything ready...got my Packet 3 letter fridays, mailed the documents in saturday and it arrived monday and I got my Interview 10 days later. Plus it seems that from huge importance it is what date you write for proposed travel (on the request of interview). Is it a date in close future you might become an interview appointment earlier. Good luck and if you have any question ... I can help you. :)

No worries, Inga! It took me 4 weeks to gather all the documents and mail packet 3 back in on August 2. I still got my appointment letter only 1 week later and my interview is next tuesday!

Ok.that's comforting me even more. thaaaaaaank you. It really is helping me even more to hear from what you guys experienced.

So now I have my medical appointment scheduled in two weeks. I would like to fly to the US in the middle of september. If send the documents back as fast as possible and I receive the visa appointment before my medical is scheduled, do I have the chance to reschedule just in case? i really hope that they will give me my appointment in the first week of september :)

How was that for you? Did you have the same worries?

Hi Inga, actually, you won't be getting an interview appointment until the consulate has received your medical results (at least that was how it was for me). I think your schedule is a little tight with you wanting to fly in mid-September and your medical not being done until in two weeks.

Is there a way you could go to the physician in Frankfurt for your medical? You don't need an appointment for that one, so you could just go whenever you want to. That's what I did.

We do have a German-speaking thread on here if you would like to ask more questions: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/272767-german-peopleruhrt-euch/page-82

Thank for for your advice :)

Ya I heard that Frankfurt does those medical appointments. I am considering doing this for a while now. To speed things up this might be the way to go :)

Did you guys take any "recent" medical records to the appointment? I asked this one lady in one of those doctors offices and she just told me to take relevant ones. My "relevant" ones are a couple of years old :) so i am not sure whether those are accepted or more recent ones would be appreciated. Do you have any experience with what exactly should be taken?

Thank you so much.

I only took my vaccination records (Impfausweis), but if you have had any recent surgeries done, then you might want to take those.

Ok.that sounds reasonable then :) everything you guys said helped me so much!

If anybody had experience with that already (and it seems to be the case :)) how scary is the interview? I read a couple of experiences on the embassy page in this forum, but i am just curious to know how reasonable it is be get a denial even though you have a normal happy relationship?

I feel like in general I am unbelievably nervous about this interview and I am very scared to screw up. Are they really asking mostly about financial support?

And the I-134 has to be filled out by my fiance and then by somebody else in case my fiance cannot support us and doesn't go above the poverty line. Did I understand that right?

:)

Hey Inga,

the interview isn't scary at all. The final interview was done in about 10 (or less) minutes (before I just had to go to two different counters to write my address down on the "DHL express Marke, fingerprints and a different counter to say that the US address on my documents is still the same). The officer spoke in German to me (I was really surprised about that) and he only asked "how did you meet?", "when did you meet?", "when was your last visit?" & "where does your fiance work?" after he said "Your visa is approved and you should have it in the mail by next week". I also did my medical in Frankfurt and you wanna be there early (they open at 7.30 am) and I had a great experience there...only took me about 2h.

Soooo, alles gut!! :)

Wow, the checklist has substantially changed since the time that I applied...

If I were you and had any doubts, I would e-mail the consulate and ask directly. Your fiancé should have received an instruction letter by mail which states the exact e-mail address. They are usually pretty fast with their replies. Good luck!! :)

Hello,

I am not sure whether anything has changed since I went through that phase, but after I sent in package 3 i actually received a letter that said: the following things are missing: medical results. (So i had to get my medical done in order to receive the appointment letter).

And it said to attach this letter with the medical results and send it back!

I would email the consulate and ask for that.they are usually pretty fast in replying.

For me though the medical results were required to even have an appointment schedules by them. Its weird that they would change that!!!

Good luck with your stuff andaybe keep up us posted how it is going.
