Darnell, can you tell me if "SAFEFILE" can be used interchangeably with "transferred electronically"?

Absolutely. GUZ IV rarely write of 'SAFEFILE' but that's the name of system that is used, between NVC and all IV Units, worldwide. There is no other 'thing' - it's SAFEFILE.

It's a secure electronic casefile system.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The delay could also have to do with student visas, Rachel had heard that it's common for slowdowns around this time of year for that as well. could add another layer of delay, and with school starting soon, they might prioritize them over the marriage visas.

Unlikely, since student visas are non-immigrant visas, they wouldn't be handled by the immigrant visa unit. Plus, interviews for student visas can occur at the Embassy in Beijing as well as other Consulates located in China.

Well, we were able to get another interview date for Sept. 19th; hopefully the IV unit is not so incompetent that it takes them over two months to send out a Email.

No, they are incompetent enough to give you an interview date on a holiday when they are closed...(Rachel told me about Coco's post)

I mean... opening up dates on a day that they are closed...beyond words...

We submitted P3 Docs to CITIC Bank on July 18 and have been checking CGI Stanley daily for the past two weeks. Every day it says "The case ID that you have entered cannot be found." Also we have not received a P4 email yet. However, we finally checked the status on CEAC and the status was updated July 31 to "READY. Your case is ready for your interview." Seems like there must be quite a backlog if P4 emails are not being sent out within three weeks.

Well, at least it sounds like your case is moving. Many of us submitted out P3's before you and we are still in administrative processing. It sounds like to me they should have sent your P4 the same day as your status went to ready for your interview. Perhaps contacting CGI or the consulate would get you a resolution.

Got a response from CGI Stanley:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for writing US Visa Service Desk.

In regards to your query, you may cancel and re-schedule your appointment.
We would like to informed you that the slot availability is at sole discretion of the embassy.
You may check the updates online for the available dates for your to schedule an appointment.

Yours sincerely,
U.S. Visa Service Desk.

Unbelievable, perhaps they only have computers answering their inquiries. I've been keeping a file of all of the communications and the Inspector General will be getting all of the info.
