Dear All,

I have a silly question, but I hope someone would be able to answer and help me here. As you all know that when filing I-751, I need to submit documents such as bank statements, credit cards, etc. showing a joint policy or account. However, there are some more personal information reveals on these documents. So, my question is should I redact part of personal information in order to avoid identity theft??? I am not sure if I could do this or not since I would not be able to find anything on the USCIS website. Thanks in advance for all your help.

i used a black marker to cross out the account numbers and such on my copies of bills... i figured they have all the other information, but if they needed that, then when i was in for the interview i could show the originals with the numbers intact... it wasnt a problem for us when filing for conditional status... i know thats not for the same form, but i would think that it would work basically the same way... dont know if that helps or not... im certainly not an immigration lawyer

best of luck

Personally I think it is a valid concern, however, on the form when they ask you for your SSN how are you going to reply? Your SSN is the most sought after item in identity theft....

YMMV

I did the black marker thing too on account numbers and stuff that was no business of theirs. Buy like FWAGUY says, they do have your SSN which is usually the most valuable information!

When we had our AOS interviews recently, the AO redacted our credit card acct numbers on our documents while she was talking to us! I didn't even think of it!

integrity,

You need to submit documents showing that you have a shared life. What documents you chose to submit are up to you.
