fwaguy is right - you need an attorney. Don't walk run - look for one who specializes in property or family law.

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

You relaly need legal representation to assess your exposure and obligations. In the meantime, were you represented by a family lawyer when you divorced? What do you mean when you say that you signed the house to him at the notary? Was it a settlement agreement? Did you craft that settlement agreement yourselves? What is the essence of the lawsuit he and his attorney have brought before you...grounds, claims?

Just a little tidbit since you didn't post all your facts, understandably.

It's possible that you could have signed a "divorce agreement" or property settlement that stated you wanted to give him the house...

HOWEVER.. assuming it's in both your names on the Property Deed, you would have had to file/sign a QUIT CLAIM deed in order to relinquish your property rights to the house.

And without that, he can't sell it, re-finance it, etc. without a great deal of hassle and difficulty, if at all.

But as everyone said, get yourself a LAWYER ASAP. And don't sign anything else without your lawyer THOROUGHLY explaining everything to you!!!

My document was actually a combined divorce decree and property settlement. So I had no choice because I had signed it. That is why it is important for you to get legal representation to protect whatever rights you may have.

If you conferred legal ownership of the home to your ex-husband in a divorce decree, which was then signed by a judge, it is a court order and can be enforced. You'd need to speak to a lawyer, if you feel that you were pressured, or deceived into transferring ownership to him, under duress.

I am very sorry for what you are going through, and those who are advising you to get a lawyer are giving you sound advice.

If you are the USC ex-wife, I am confused as to why you are using this VJ account, which was apparently originally used by your ex-husband to ask questions about which of your papers he needed for his AOS interview, as well as to ask what a "friend" who was being "abused and treated as a slave" by his USC wife should do to adjust status. (He and his "friend" appear to have been married the same number of months, according to previous posts.)

In other words, if you are the USC ex-wife, you are essentially showing your cards to your ex by posting under his account, and I don't understand why. Get yourself a lawyer, and if someone is scheming against you, you might try your best not to give him any more ammunition by letting him know your thoughts, especially by asking questions using his account. I wish you all the best.

OTOH, if you are the ex-husband posing this question as the USC ex-wife, to gather information about acquiring the house from her in spite of her resistance...

I mean no offense to the injured party. Obviously, someone has been hurt here. Something just doesn't feel right, that's all.

Interesting, I just read the OP's history of posts and they do seem to be written from the immigrant's perspective. But I suppose the USC could hijack the ID and change the password, if both were accustomed to using it.

But this post says the OP got divorced last year, while just last month he/she was asking for AOS interview advice. Something just doesn't add up. I suppose it's possible that the two are not mutually exclusive, but it seems rather fishy.
