So you're telling me that people buy expensive jewelry without ever handling it? Or trying it on?

I think this is one of those things about which men and women are intrinsically different.

I don't need to try on a watch, a tie or even test drive a car to know immediately that I will buy it. Normally it is a matter of trying it on for size more than anything, although even that would be considered 'trying it on'...

Women generally do not. My wife can't even buy an envelope without checking it thoroughly first. I don't even accompany her anymore when she is planning a large purchase. I felt sorry for the last car salesperson who had to deal with her.

Just coz it is on the shelf and has a price tag does not mean they hand the item to anyone who would ask for it.

Example most jewelry stores would not just hand you the most expensive set they have in showcase, just coz you ask to see it.

Have you considered the possibility they might do it to you specifically because of your appearance? Could it be you're in Oprah's shoes and you don't know it?
