Just another event that has nothing do with race being blown out of proportion. I can't believe people are actually arguing about whether the store was open or not. It reminds me of the silliness surrounding our favourite trial.

And some in the black community wonder why people are getting sick of hearing about racism. I guess it gets ratings and sells newspapers/tabloids though. Sad thing is the real cases of racism get drowned out by this silliness because it's Oprah.

I don't think that it is extinct. I just think that always trying so hard to find racism in situations where it doesn't exist, and there's is not one iota of proof that it does, takes away from cases where racism does exist.

When people start continually whining about everything being related to race, when in reality there's zero proof of that except for the two participants being different races, it just turns into noise. When there's so much noise, the real cases of racism are drowned out.

I agree with you on that one. If the store is closed for a PR event, she should have just left it alone. But the sales girl was in the wrong. There was no reason not to show her the bag when she repeately asked for it.

If the store is closed, then that alone seems like a good enough reason to me.

No, but take a look at history. This is exactly what minorities would go through on a regular basis. It's the notion of being told what they can't have or do. I would wager that she went in there without her detail and even modest dress to be treated like a normal person. It's foreign to white people because they never have to deal with it. Folks just assume you have the money so there's no issue. But black folks? This is nothing new to us, hell I've been told that I should go somewhere "less pricey" before.

exactly...This is a perfect example...everything is racist to Marvin.store clerks suggesting a bag might be too much after the store is closed,,rodeo clowns wearing an Obama mask, etc etc.

I named quite a few folks that are millionaires who don't have security when they travel overseas. If Oprah had her detail with her, don't you think the sales clerk would have thought, maybe this woman is somoene important?
