What regulates moving to "in line" status?

Timeline

I'm doubtful if anyone knows for sure but it doesn't hurt to ask...

I noticed after skimming through recent and past timelines that sometimes people get placed "in line" for interview scheduling a couple of days after biometrics. On the other hand I notice many cases when it takes up to 4, 8 and 12 days and even up a few months to move to that status.

Is there any rhyme and reason as to why this is or is it just completely and utterly random? I'm extremely curious about this.

Actually, now that I think about it, even within the same field office there is no kind of consistency when it comes to being put "in line for interview scheduling".

Someone who applied at the same time as me at my field office got put inline more than a month before I did. In the end we still had the interview on the same day however.

You get placed in line for interview scheduling if your office may take a longer to schedule you for interview. You get placed in line exactly 30 days before your 3 or 5 year anniversary date.

In my case, I filed end of April and there was no way to be interviewed in June or July, so I was placed in line on June 28 which was exactly 30 days before my 5th yr anniversary of July 28th.

I guess they do that to give us hope!

Listen to this one. I agree with this.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I've been trying to find a pattern but every timeline thread doesn't have an eligibility column. From what little I have seen though there does seem to be some kind of correlation with people who file well after their eligibility getting put in line faster than those who file in the 90 day period before.

I'm excited to see if this one month before theory rings true. If that's the case I should be place in line sometime around September 1 which is a couple weeks away. When the time comes I'll report back if it did indeed happen that way.

So is i can tell status change after Bio is 30 before actual 3 and 5 years anniversary ?

even if you did Bio early ? hmmm my 3 years date is 10/26 =(((((

I also did bio early and I waited a long time until it changed to inline which was as Nimaan said about 30 days before my 5 year anniversary.

This is the reason why I did not try to do early walk in because it would not make any difference, and certainly would not suggest others to do that either.

It actually does make a big difference for some people. The ones who file well after their eligibility date and do early walk-ins get placed in line 2-4 days after. So to say don't do it because there is no advantage is kind of a blanket statement.
