Does anyone know what happens to the AOS packets after they arrive in CHI?

I recently sent my AOS packet and I just want to have a better idea of how the current process is at the USCIS right now. I figured someone from VJ will probably know.

My assumption of it is, based on what I've read so far, that the AOS packet is re-assembled and the checks are sorted at CHI. Then, the EAD and the Advance Parole are sent to Lee's summit and then processed there(?) Is this correct? Or does it go to the District Office (DO) and processed there?

Also, where is the I-130 and I-485 forwarded and processed?

Everything goes to the NBC in Lee's Summit. The Chicago Lockbox is the NBC's receiving station.

I-765 and I-131 are processed by the NBC.

I-485 begins processing at the NBC and then may be sent either to the CSC or to a District or Sub office for completion.

Not sure where an I-130 submitted concurrently with an I-485 gets completed, but I expect that it will stay with the I-485 so it doesn't make much difference to the petitioner and beneficiary/applicant - the I-130 will be approved before the I-485 is approved, if only by seconds.

I'm surprised the steps of the process aren't posted somewhere here on VJ since that question comes up a lot. It was helpful for me to read that report when it came out last year so I knew more of where we were in the process. Seeing how many different computer systems they rely on and how many times your file gets shipped from one place to another was a little scary though. I was so glad our file made it to the DO for our interview.

I was one of the ones who didn't listen to the "only send what's requested" rule and decided to send an unsolicited addition to our file. When we filed for AOS, we had submitted a photocopy of our marriage certificate. After waiting for seven months with no "touches", we sent a certified copy of our marriage certificate with a letter asking that it be added to our file. Well, one month later we got an interview notice, and at the interview, we saw that the addition we sent actually had made it into our file. Given how complex their system is, I was quite impressed.
