So question about case number and also I-134

Ok so here are the basics. I live in the US and my fiancee lives in the Philippines. My beautiful future wife accepted my proposal in January and we began the process to bring her to the US to be with me shortly after. The process has gone pretty smoothly and I have no complaintes but now I find myself with a couple questions i'm not sure what the answer to is. Sooo i'm throwing it out and hoping for a little feedback.

Firstly I received the official case number on July the 30th. It says that she will also receive the case number in a packet with other information also. It's now August the 14th and she has still not received the case number herself yet. Any idea how soon she should get it after I get it? We are both getting excited about this as the process draws closer to her being here. Just hoping someone can give us an idea how long it should be from the time I get the case number to the time she receives it in the mail also.

My second quesiton is this. The I-134 form. Now i did this and had notarized and provided the following evidence. My w2, my last few pay stubs, a letter from my bank stating my deposits from the past year, current balance and when the account was first opened, and a letter from my job describing my job description, my annual salary, and stating that I am full time and when I first started. I'm seeing now that it looks like it's good to send a 1040 also? I have filed by turbotax for the last 5 years or so and haven't filled out a 1040 in forever. Will the current evidence I sent in be enough? Otherwise how do i come up with a 1040 if I've been doing it online for the past 5 years or so?

Any advice would be great and greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

There are others here far more expert than I but I'll throw out my thoughts, and perhaps I'll learn something from following posts.

My understanding is that the fiancee does not receive anything. NVC sends the packet via DHL to Manila. This is said to take 3-4 working days. Once received by the embassy they take a week or two (or less) to process the paperwork. They do NOT mail out anything. To find the information that you need one must check their website and when available the "packet" on how to proceed (how to schedule/pay for things like the medical) will be there.

See Hank's Guide: http://visaconnection-philippines.com/#%C2'>

Regarding question #2. I suppose having your I-134 notarized doesn't hurt but I wonder how you did this as there is neither a place for a notary to sign as witness, nor is notarization required. By signing you essentially are signing under oath.

I've read that it is good to send a few 1040's. Simply log back onto Turbotax (I'm assuming that you filed via their online site, otherwise you'd have copies on your computer). They will have a method whereby you can access older 1040s. There most likely will be some sort of fee. It seems wise to me to print or save to one's computer copies because these sites do charge for access more than a year old. Your other data, the w2's, pay stubs, letter and bank stuff sounds good.

Hope that this helps and I'm sure others will add to this later. Good luck.

If you have the NVC case number then that is her case number, there is no other case numbers.

please read this regarding how K1 visas work at USEM.

Well that's a little frustrating. I guess I should have done more research instead of waiting a couple weeks we didn't need to. The sheet with the case number said the US embassy would contact her when ready by sending a packet with instructions. So we were trying to wait paitently. Thanks for the feedback it's greatly appreciated. At least we know we can stop waiting for that and move on to the next step.

Also thanks for the tip on turbotax. I found where to download a copy of my 1040 and done now and e-mailed to my fiancee already. Thanks again!

Yup, what he said! You probably won't get a "package" from the Manila embassy. I got a letter over a month after scheduling my fiancee's interview saying that they had recieved our case. Once you have the MNL case # you can go ahead and pay the visa fee, schedule the interview, get the medical and CFO semminar out of the way. Also, make sure your fiancee has all her required documents. NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Birth Certificates, police clearances for any countries she has lived in more than 6 months. For a full listing check out Hanks_ guides, you'll find links all over here. It has a wealth of information.

As far as question #2, you can request a tax transcript from the IRS (do a google search, that's what I did) it's free and you get it in about 2 weeks. Think the embassy just needs the most current years return, but when you file for the AOS I think you need 3 years so might as well get them all now, and they are free anyway.

1) Your fiancée will not receive a packet, at best (maybe) she will receive a letter from the embassy with info to the embassy webpage. Everything is online for USEM. Follow the flashing arrow below this post.

2) Contact the IRS and request a tax transcript for 2012 ... that will work just fine. The embassy requires a copy of the most recent tax return.
