Hi again!

I was active duty military until August. Now I am currently unemployed still. Crappy job offers that didn't nowhere close to equal pay in military or really nice money with me being out the house/out the country. In any case I'm not sure if I need a cosponsor. My last tax return is well over the poverty limit as this year tax return will be. Since I don't have a job, I'm thinking I need a cosponsor.

I'm leaving to start the DCF process in Spain in January but I will be employed when I get back or start orientation before the holidays. If I were to start before hand I know I might be able to get a letter stating my pay and what I would be earning annually. But I'm still waiting on them to find out where I'm going, their going to relocate me.

If I need a cosponsor, my parents will help as I'm staying in their residence at the moment. My parents file jointly and my lil sister is also their dependant.

- How do I set up the their I864?

- Can I just use my dads name for both or do I have to place my mom and dad seperately?

-Depending if using parents separately, Dad(sponsor) - mom, sis, my wife (dependants) = 4 for household?

Dad/mom(sponsor) - sis, my wife (dependants) = 4 or 3 household?

I'm just confused on what to do. Does he file I-864 or I-864a?

The more I read about the I-864 the more confused I get since I don't have a job.

Whew!

Tackle Dad's first. Only one person can be Joint Sponsor. I elect Dad, for the purpose of this example.

Go through each step slowly & carefully.. it looks like you have got the numbers figured right (4).

Mom can do -A with Dad. Is easiest way if they file taxes jointly.

Then go back to yours and be OK with entering '0' for current income. :)

I've been racking my brains trying to understand this government lingo. Reading reading.. and more reading.. just getting confused.

Ok. I do a I-864 on my dad with I-864a for my mom on my dads 864. So how does their whole tax thing work out then? They file jointly claiming my sister. Even though they files jointly am I going to have to separate their income? Because it asks for individual income then few lines later what they filed for the tax year which would be the same for both.

Sorry for all the questions as I am scrolling through the forms trying understand how to fill it out.

Also I just need only their 2005 federal return instead of the past 3 years? Trying to get paperwork from my dad is like going to the dentist. And it doesn't needed to be notarized correct? I didn't see it on the form from their website.

Once I can figure out how to file their earnings properly, everything will be prepared for my trip. Got everything ready except for the pictures and medical.

I just notice what I was doing. From the info section about the embassy in Madrid, they send out the I-134 in their packet-3. I should be fine if I want to use I-864 en lieu of it? i-134 has nothing about joint sponsors and if I fill it out, it basically has all zeros. Unless using my dad, he has to fill one out to and he has to get it notorized.

From what I gather, you CANNOT  use one I-134 in lieu of a I-864. What type of visa are you applying for? I believe I-134's are for fiance visas. Use whichever forms the Consulate sends you, better safe than sorry. Also you could contact the consulate directly to find out with more precision. Good luck!!!

See 'household income'. You should be able to grab Dad's portion from his W-2 for the individual income.

If filing now, yes-one year as far as I know. The Consulate can of course ask for whatever they want.

Suggestion: ask Dad's permission for you to get his tax transcripts from the IRS & order the past 3 years. Then Dad doesn't have to do as much and you are covered with multiple years' returns just in case.

I-864s no longer require notarizaztion.

I'm not sure where you see the I-134 info, but if it's here at VJ, a K might have filled it in instead of an IV person. The IV will always require the I-864.

I'm not sure where I got I-134 thing from. I think I've been just reading to much at one time and scrambling to gather all the info.

I've filled out my I-864 and placed $0 as my current income even though I definately made double what I made last year annually for not having a job since August.

My parents I-864 I got that filled out correctly I believe. Only thing is that I don't have any of my parents pay stubs for current year. Though my dad sole makes above the household of 4 poverty line. Including I-864a (moms income), for 2006 projection they make $70k and previous tax years $59/57/52. I should I have them try to find their pay stubs or will their tax transcripts should be sufficient enough? This is the only thing I'm worried about now. Got all other forms filled out and printed that I need (I think).

Different topic now.. Does copies of our passports, birth certificates, and marriage license needs to be notorized/certified? We got the originals that has the official seal but it looks like we'll be turning one of each for the I-130 and IV application.

Is the I-693 one of the medical forms needed for the exam? If not, can the needed forms be aquired. I tried getting th embassy to send the packet-3 before the petetion but he wouldn't send it out. Have to file in person first. But me and my wife are going to be in Madrid the whole and want to get all this done while we are there. Then all she has to do is return a second time just for the interview and call it day.
