Green card name and passport name don't match; how to travel

Hello, friends! smile.png

I hope you can help me with my questions. I got my green card after marriage in the name of Cash (my husband's last name), but my both Russian passports are still with my maiden name. How hard would it be to travel back to Russia, did anybody have the same kind of experience recently? I heard that the name on tickets has to coincide with the passport name. But when I am asked to show my green card, the name there is different (married name). Would it be a big problem, what can I expect? Just want to get some up-to-date info on the topic. Also, I would not like to change my maiden name in my Russian passports, if it's possible, because it would complicate things for my family back at home right now, and it's a "pain-in-the-@$$" to have them changed anyway. I will appreciate any help! rose.gif

Take a copy of your marriage certificate with the name change and you shouldn't have a problem leaving the US. Who knows what will happen in Russia but others can give better advice.

Buy tickets with name matching what is in the passport. When entering Russia do not even show your greencard and you'll have no problems at all since you're just entering on the Russian passport. When leaving you would need to show greencard for them to let you on the plane (I don't know if the passport control will want to see it too, or only the check-in people), so make sure to have marriage certificate that shows the name change. When entering US also show greencard and marriage certificate.
