Why are you filling out an i-693? Did you read FAQ #3 in SECTION III? You don't need an exam if you file within a year of her PI medical, unless there was a Class A finding or the DS 3025 wasn't properly filled out in the PI. Just submit a copy of the DS 3025.

We didn't get an exam nor submit an i-693...

Nope you don't need another physical if you file within a year of the initial physical, but I have read of too many issues when the I-693 is not sent.

I have read (and recently) of couples getting an RFE because the I-693 from the civil surgeon was not submitted. I know what it states on the USCIS forms and website, but I also know RFE's has been sent because of only sending the 3025. It may depend on the Adjudicator reviewing the file, but it happens fairly often.

Has your green card been approved yet?

If you're asking me, Hank, yes. Applied 3 April, got it 27 July 2012. No RFE. Maybe we just got lucky...

Yup was asking you... cool! (didn't check your timeline )

It really must boil down to the Adjudicator as it was only a few weeks back that I read of someone getting an RFE for the I-693.

Thanks Dave and Hank,

I am no expert but Joan's vaccination form seems incomplete. I think she needs boosters for the MMR and measles vaccines. ;( I was on the phone with two doctors fighting with them that she did not need a new medical. The "best" option so far is a clinic in town with a $250.00 fee that includes vaccines if needed. I think the USCIS needs to lower the poverty levels because of the amount of money this process is taking from our bank accounts!

She doesn't need the second dose of any vaccine for AOS purposes.

Keep shopping for a civil surgeon who knows the K-1 drill. You shouldn't have to pay more than about $40 to have her DS-3025 transcribed onto her I-693.

Good luck finding one in Hawaii that isn't part of the "good ole boys network" that will soak you for all they can, all with Aloha and Mahalo!

A search reveals this old post, so hopefully he's still around, eh?

No need for an I-693 if it's under a year since the PI exam, Tahoma. Never filled out an I-693 and still got ours.

Dr. Kusaka is still around, but now he won't "sign off" on another physician's exam...his office insists on doing there own medical. Guess he joined that good ole boy network :(

Yeah, that's the life in the Islands. Kinda like when I wanted to buy a motorcycle there, both dealers refused to work with me. Wouldn't budge on price. So I bought from CA, had it shipped, and saved $4500. Then drove it to BOTH dealerships and showed it off, just once, and never went back. There is ALWAYS another way...

Steve, I hope you find one soon, so I can follow in your footsteps in a couple of months! If not I may follow DavenRoxy's advice and use my HawaiianMiles (that I can't use to go to Manila anymore!) and get it done while "Honeymooning" in Vegas, or somewhere on the West Coast.

Hi Dave...I agree with you that a K-1er shouldn't have to submit an I-693. That's how the instructions read.

However, there have been enough reports over the years here on VJ where K-1ers have received RFE's for the I-693 that I advise people to play it safe and spend the $40 for the transcription. That's what Chinook did.

I guess it boils down to whether the person is feeling lucky (and whether they can find a reasonably-priced civil surgeon!).

I agree with Tahoma about the I-693, as I have read very recently of a couple getting an RFE for the I-693 during AOS. And yes I know the instructions state its not needed, so we spent the $40 and had the 3025 transcribed.

I guess you could send in the I-485 with a copy of the page with the 3025 mentioned (nicely highlighted) so its "known" the I-693 is not needed.
