While waiting for interview scheduling for my AOS, my wife and I unfortunately had to move MI to NH. Shortly after notifying USCIS of the move, we received a notice of interview for Detroit on September 11. Due to my wife's work commitments it would have been impossible to travel that far anyway, but before we could do anything about rescheduling I got a new notification today that they had (at last) acknowledged my change of address, and the I-485 has now reverted from "interview scheduling" to Initial review.

I have several questions:

  1. How far back does this push the process? Will I have to do biometrics over again? What sort of delay to getting a new interview can we expect?
  2. Will this cause a delay in the issuance of my EAD, or is that separate?
  3. Not that it will help me, but could I have done anything differently to avoid this delay?

As always, I will be grateful for any help or suggestions! The third question is for the benefit of anyone in a similar situation who may come across this. I feel like we were so close and are now back in limbo.
