AOS, AP, Alien Registration Number

Hi all,

I'm about to file for my AOS, AP, and EAD. These are my questions:

1. What are valid reasons for filing an AP? The reasons why I will be travelling (with my husband) are: a. attend my sister's wedding; b. my husband and I will have a wedding celebration back home (my dad and my sister were not able to attend our wedding here in the US so the celebration back home are really for their benefit, along with other family members and friends). My dad has some health issues (prostate cancer, but not life-threatening at the moment) so I don't know if that is also valid. Would a and b be valid enough?

2. Alien Registration Number -- where and how do I get that? I noticed there's a box that asks for it in the forms.

3. Has anyone here traveled with an AP and refused admission upon going back to the US?

Thanks in advance for all your input.

1. You don't need any reasons.

It states in the Instructions for Application for Travel Document -- General Requirements: (page 8)

1. c (2) An explanation or other evidence showing circumstances that warrant issuance of an Advance Parole Document

What do those evidences include?

If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the
adjustment application; or

Oh...I didn't notice the "or". laughing.gif Thanks! So if I apply for the AP and the EAD together with the AOS, I don't need to worry about (2) and (3), right?

Your timeline says you arrived with a K-1 visa, so you have an Alien number. Look at your NOA2 approval, it should be on top on the letter (A#) under your name.
