How much more vetting could they possibly need to do? The USCIS and State Dept. now know more about me and Michelle than our own mothers. First, the long wait for NOA2 (including an RFE), then the 8-month DOT saga, then we both show up for the interview ("you're approved"), but NOW they have us in the AP holding pattern. For what? What more could they possibly need to know about us? It has been 14 months since we sent in our I-129. Do I sound frustrated?

AP in rare cases can take over a year, and sometimes more, until it's completed.

AP is the most stressful spot to be stuck in as there is no transparency of the process or time table much less assurance of the outcome

and a cause for distress and anxiety. It has not been easy.

This journey is the greates test of one's patience. By the time you are done, one becomes as patient as a vulture. Its hard, confusing, at times. But the biggest issue is having to wait and not knowing for how long. Hang in there and soon you will be smiling from ear to ear.

They wont say why its taking so long. My fiance is from Pakistan - I am sure thats the reason. They are " checking" to make sure he is not a terrorist.

Yes, after the interview. AP can happen at all stages but mostly after the interview.

we have been in AP for 10 days now, while others who interviewed after us already have "issued" status

Same over here in Havana<Cuba,one thing for sure they give my fiancee her pasaport back to herat the interview with a letter that says she need AP,and they will contact her,this so much bullshit,

My point is that they have months between the NOA1 and the embassy interview. I thought the point of all that wait time is so that they can conduct all the background checking necessary to determine that everything is legit. First uscis, then the consulate. Why, after all of that and the final interview, are they not able to draw a conclusion? Ok. That is a rhetorical question.

It's been in AP for 2 weeks now. i had to fly back home yesterday and get back to work...couldn't wait any longer. was hoping to be able to fly back together and be with her through the POE process.

been waiting for 35 days now... my husband called USEM and the asked about the reasons for long wait... but apparently the agent said she's not allowed to give information about the process to preserve the confidentiality of the process... it's frustrating... there's nothing else we can do but to wait for the process to be over... :/
