So, I’ve read the guidelines and application forms etc. and found out that I have to send the documents (for AOS) to the office in Chicago, although I live in California. Is that correct? I just want to make sure before I do something stupid…

If those who are filing for AOS have to send the paperwork to the office in Chicago, why are there processing times for AOS in the website - "USCIS California Service Center Processing Dates."

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Proc...nter=California

Do the office in Chicago distribute the applications back to wherever the applicants live or something? Is that what “transferring to CSC” means? I am just confused.

Thank you.

p.s. I feel really stupid, but it took a little while to find out what AOS stands for when I first started this visa journey... Please bear my ignorance.

thanks yu and dan

i was reading the instructions in the i485 form, and i found this under "where should you file form i485?"

"File this application at the USCIS service center or local office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence, or submit the form to the USCIS Lockbox Facility..."

What does this mean...

By the way, can anyone answer the question about transferring? Is my application going to be transferred to CSC, or I can just send it to CSC from the beginning?? Confusing...
