How do we know if my husband has conditional status?

Timeline

At the airport on POE, the customs officer stamped his visa with the conditional stamp. However, at the time we mentioned to him that it was a mistake because we had been married for more than two years. He said we had to be married two years at the time the visa was ISSUED not when my husband entered the U.S.

My husband's visa was issued in Jan 2013, our two year anniversary was Mar 2013 and we travelled together to the U.S. in April 2013.

After getting settled in we actually went to an INS office to ask about the mistake and the INS official confirmed that a mistake was made, but that she could not help us because we were not in the system yet. She told us to check back after the green card was received.

When the green card came in the mail, there was nothing that mentioned my husband having conditional status. Is there something on the card that we should look for that may say if he is a conditional resident? How can we tell?

If it expires in 2 years it is conditional. If it expires in 10 it is not.

Thanks Amy Kathleen! His card expires in 10 years so I guess they caught the error when they processed our paperwork!

The OP should have received a 10 year unconditional card and did receive it, so there is no error. The CBP officer at PoE was mistaken, it's the date you enter the US where it's determined if you should receive a 2 year or 10 year green card, not the date your visa was issued.

on your green card it will either say CR1 or IR1 (regardless of the expiry date because many CR1 have recently gotten the wrong expiry date.)

That lets you know if the card is conditional or not.
