i haven't heard of skype going away, but nothing is impossible nowadays.

That's correct. Skype is not going away. You simply mean free calls will be going away. That is also correct. But Skype is going no where.

Skype started a free promotion earlier this year for calls within the US and Canada. At the end of this year, they will no longer be free.

Skype isn't going anywhere.

And that is free calls to North America, I use skype to chat and talk to my fiance in China, Computer-Computer will always be free, Computer to Phone in my case is 2.1 cents per min, for the past year Computer-Phone in USA and Canada has been free, but will be a charge call starting in January.

The promotion was eBay's way of getting more people to try and use the program.

We have been using MSN audio/voice for over two years. It is like a walkie talkie, but it is better than long distance phone bills that were over $ 300.00 a month US in the beginning.
