Thanks for your feedback!

I am also curious to hear from people that had their interview after the government shutdown - I'm wondering if this would have an effect on visa issuance times?

I also bumped this thread because it is useful to people about to have their interview so I wanted to keep it going.

I agree on the bumping ! It is a useful thread!

At the moment visa issuance times have not been affected. In fact if anything they are a lot faster than they were a few weeks ago when I was preparing for my interview. I havent seen many people wait longer than 10 days after approval

My fiance had his interview on Sept 19th and had his passport on the 25th (delivered to his office). So....4 business days (6 days total).

OMG 18 DAYS TO GO :D

Agree-Great bump.

I was approved in London on 1st day of shutdown, 1st Oct.

Still waiting for visa, and CEAC status hasn't changed...

I know of a couple of others that have already got theirs from the same interview day though.

Just adding to this thread, as I've been sneakily reading it and it's been a huge help to me smile.png

Interview date: 3rd October
CEAC changed to AP: 4th October
CEAC changed to issued: 7th October

Email received today (9th) saying I'll get my visa delivered to me tomorrow! So for me the shutdown didn't seem to have any effect. FatuousJeffrey - have you contacted anyone? If it's been almost 10 days and you've had no change you might need to poke people into action?

Crossing my fingers for everyone in this final wait - I've been literally checking my email and CEAC every five mins since the interview, and I know you're all exactly the same.

If you don't mind me asking, are there any mitigating circumstances like you having previous marriages or maybe a police caution, or is this just some completely random delay that all of us have faced at some point in the visa process?

I wish you the best of luck anyway!

Nice and quick for you too!-There is some movement in my case, CEAC says now in Administrative Processing....Hopefully not too much longer!

Erm, possibly mitigating circumstances. I was denied entry on an ESTA in March, although this was discussed thoroughly at interview and the guy said it would have no effect on the visa application, told me emphatically I was approved, and said the visa would be with me in 7-10days like everyone else.

But who knows? Maybe it's just a random thing.

Gonna have to change my flight plans for Monday though....

AP! That's movement at least! Some people have said the CEAC status isn't always accurate, so you could even be further along than that? Have you tried calling DOS to see if they have more accurate info?

Hope it speeds up for you! Looks from your timeline like you had a fast NOA2 and then this wait is slow, while we had a slog for NOA2 but speedy now - everyone gets held up at some point in this epic process, sadly. Worth it in the end though :)

I was Approved 24 Sept and had passports in hand on Oct 1st. ( 5 business days) We have both been previously married but this clearly did not cause any delays. I gave Oct 12 as departure date and received passports back well beforehand (thank goodness, I need a copy of the visa for the movers)

Any update to your case? Mine has been saying ready for 3 working days now. Nothing to be worried about yet I'm sure as I wasn't one of the people that requested quick processing (7 business days or less) so I'm sure it will update in a few days.

Yeah, my status changed to "Issued" on Friday. Bearing in mind that the embassy is closed today, hopefully should receive visa by the end of this week. It's been 8 business days since interview, took 5/6 business days to go from "Ready" to "AP".

I'm betting/hoping yours changes to "AP" tomorrow when they reopen. When are you planning to travel?

Seems that quite a few people have had a quicker issuance than I have though, getting them even when interviews a couple of days after mine. What I do struggle to understand is why they don't just process the visas in order? Seems a bit haphazard, but could be because of my ESTA refusal in March.

Congratulations! :)

Did they not ask you/did you not hear them announce that people who planned to leave in 7 days should tell the embassy? I think that's why - unless you have urgent travel arrangements they will process it a bit slower. Fine with me as long as I get it on time!

Thanks! And to you!

Yeah, they did.

They asked me when I planned to travel and I told them the 14th, so I had to rebook the flights late last week. My interviewing officer seems to think I'd get it before today.

When do you need yours by?

I didn't realise the embassy was closed today... Is it an American holiday or something?

The 24th so I'm confident I'll be okay

Yeah, it's Columbus Day, which is a Federal holiday in the US, but some states, such as Oregon and Alaska, don't recognise it.

Did you register for Courier delivery or are you picking it up from the depot?

I'm sure you'll be fine!

Courier. The 24th is 7 business days away, so fingers crossed that should be good enough!
