Can you post how many Indians owned slaves in comparison to whites who owned them?

What's an acceptable number?

I'm trying to think of another democracy in the world that has elected a member of a race that makes up ~12% of the population of that country to be their leader (twice). I can't think of one. Maybe there was a Tutsi in Rwanda that was elected. Yet the racial minority in this country is constantly complaining that they're getting a raw deal. To prove it, they conjure up all kinds of alleged injustices that have nothing to do with race, or point to things that happened 50 to 100s of years ago. Or maybe find an obscure rodeo clown reference to prove that racism is alive and well. Better yet a black gaziilonaire that didn't get to see the $38,000 handbag she wanted to look at.

So, are you saying that racism isn't alive and well?

But it's fun to bother Marvin.

I'm trying to think of a comeback without screaming racism. Give me some time.protest6wz.gif

I don't know what "alive and well" means. How do you gauge that? If 1 person out of 10 is considered racist or has racist leanings, is that considered alive and well? What about 1 out of 100? What's it gonna take for the black community to stop blaming every perceived injustice on racism? And I know you're going to come back with some line about people being treated completely equally, but that will never ever happen. There will always be people that discriminate against other people for whatever reason. Their name, the color of their eyes, the color of their skin.

I'm betting that some people discriminate against black people in cases simply because they yell "racism" if something doesn't go their way, whether it's related to race or not.

People only elected a black man because of the free stuff he's handing out.

12% of the US population is Kenyan? No wonder they're always winning the marathons.

I agree with some of the things you said, but let me put it in the proper perspective:

About a month ago, we went to the resturant depo to get supplies. My wife's spring roll and fried rice sale is making some progress and Sam's club doesn't have what she needs. My mom has a membership so she took us and we used her card to get in. This was hot with the TM/GZ story so I asked her does she think racism is still prelevant in our society. She told me a story about a doctor friend who just went to court over discrimination at his job. He was the top doctor at his hospital, the only person of color there. He went up for promotion, and was skipped over by a white doctor with less seniority and less credentials. When he went to file an inquiry about this, he was fired from his job citing poor work ethics. He retained a lawyer and took this to court. Once there, his hospital cited he was counseled twice about his poor work performance. When his lawyer asked to provide the documentation proving this, they couldn't find the paperwork. His lawyer brought every single counseling sheet, every letter of commendation, covering from the beginning of his tenure until he was fired. His record was spotless. There wasn't a single complaint in his file. They were forced to pay his fees and gave him a hefty sum of money plus offered his job back. He didn't take it of course, he told my mom that he did this because he wasn't going to let them destroy his name at the new hospital where he worked.

What you are describing doesn't happen often because you can't claim racism without substantial proof. If that were true, POC could claim it all the time and make bank. We wouldn't need to work, just get a job, cry racism, ask for a crapload of money, rinse, wash, repeat.

The reason why you can't see it, is because you don't have a dog in this fight. Most white folks don't. My Lt Col here is a black woman, 45 years old, the only WOC here that is that high rank. I had her come over and read your post a minute ago. Let's just say if she didn't have a meeting, she would be responding instead of me.

I used to hate Karee, now I hate you.ranting33va.gif

I'm with Spooky, I hate everyone equally.

And I'd rather deal with that. You at least know where you stand and it's not just you.
