Hi All Vjers,

Thank you to all the members we were approved today and my passport stamped.:dance: below are the details of today

We had our interview today at Garden city @ 8:30 am..

We took LIRR to Garden city from there we took Cab which cost us $10.. $5 per person..reach around 8 in the building.. they checked us in and told us to go towards window #1 to submit Aos Application. once submitted we sat inthe big hall for more then 15 mins.. they started calling out names and all were asked to form a queue our name was also called inthe 2nd batch and were told to go on 1st floor...were we again waited for more then 45 min..we saw lot couple in there..

Our name was called by decent Gentleman who greeted us warmly and took us laong the hallway into his cabin. then said to stand and raise our right hand to tell the truth and we confirmed yes..

as we sat i noted his name on the desk Charles Rivera decent calm guy..

He started with our ID's and then asked if we were married in India and i replied no so he said that there is no marriage cert. in the file i siad i had submitted a Org copy but i have 2 more and he said a notarised copy is fine.

then he asked my wife how & when did we meet.. she fumbled a bit but it was OK

then he asked her did she meet my parents & their names

then he asked me all the no questions.

then he asked for some pics we had some 100 pics he went thro n said there are no wedding pics we replied we married at the city clerks office and these are the pics which we exchanged the rings then he asked for 1 of the pics with front face. we gave him that..

He asked why didnt we get married in India? and i replied to that

he said if we wanted anything more to submit i gave our job letters tax transcripts & bank statements, he questioned if we had our insurance together & we said no but had a 401k under my wife's name, myself as beneficiary..

He said he was satisfied and would approve our case and he would stamp & return the passport back :D:thumbs::dance:

asked us to wait down in the hall and we both thanked him and he said you are good to travel & explained about lifting conditions etc..

we were done in 15 mins and seated back again in the hall for about an hour then we were called at the counter and handed over the passport with the stamp for 1 YEAR..

I asked the lady that my I-94 is still in there :help: and she said the officer should have taken it but it doesnt matter i should be having my GC soon..

All in all it was great experince which was smooth and pray that all pending VJers will have a better one

Thank you all for your comments

Al

....and we're calming down now.....

Stamp lasts up to one year, its only meant to be temporary while you wait for your actual card. The actual green card will last 2 years, unless you've been married for more than 2 years at your interview, in which case it will last 10 years.
