I had a female student named Messiah in North Carolina. Was no big deal and no one ever picked on her about her name. Nobody cared. It was just a name. She wasn't called THE Messiah, just Messiah.

Couple problems with this.

1. First, the judge used her religious background (it would seem) to render the decision.

2. While Messiah is not a common name, it is in use. Try using people finder or other similar site and put the name in common last names (such as Jones or Adams) and you'll find people with that name.

Speaking of stupid names... isn't Kim Kardashian's baby named "North", as in North West (after Kanye West). He can come and cry in mommy's lap because you know that's gonna get him beat up.

As for the judge.. talk about abuse of power. I can't believe this has not been made more public. I'm not saying that it's not a stupid name, but just out of principle, I wouldn't let it go. Supreme Court here we come.
