Hi guys !
I will be an american Citizen in 2 years and been dreaming about bringing my family here to LA from Sweden at that time. I read what ever I could find on this site but with my bad reading skills it makes it really difficult. I just have some questions, if you can answer ANY please help me out.

(Keep in mind my whole family are Swedish Citizen.)

QUESTION 1:

I know when you adjust status your partner must prove they can support you and they must have a minimum salary. Is there a similar or exact rules when bringing parents OR/AND siblings ????

QUESTION 2:

If answer to question 1 is YES, how much ?

QUESTION 3:

If answer to question 1 is YES, what if they can prove they have money saved can they use that instead since I doubt my income will be high enough?

QUESTION 4:

How long does it Usually take to bring your both married parents ? I could not find any info about this.

QUESTION 5:

My sister is old Always lived with my parents and have epilepsi etc and need special care, would it be possible to bring all 3 at once?

QUESTION 6:

If my parents come, can I and them at the same time petition for my 2 siblings and their wife/husbands & kids?

QUESTION 7:

If answer to question 6 is YES, will it be faster to bring them there because we all 3 petition at the same time? How much faster?

I hope the questions being direct will make it easier....Thank you SOO much for any response! =)

1. Yes

2. 125% of the poverty level for your household plus any immigrants you have already sponsered that you are still obligated to under the I-864.

3. For any shorfall from the 125% poverty level you will subtract your income from the required amount. The assets must be 5x the lacking amount. They must be able to be converted to cash in one year or less and they must not cause an undue hardship on you if liquidated. The rules on immigrants self-sponsering is country specific. Usually the cash must be in the US.

4. Currently about one year from start to finish.

5. No.

6. Yes a person can have two petitions at the same time.

7. No.

Hi guys !

I will be an american Citizen in 2 years and been dreaming about bringing my family here to LA from Sweden at that time. I read what ever I could find on this site but with my bad reading skills it makes it really difficult. I just have some questions, if you can answer ANY please help me out.

QUESTION 1:

Yes you must meet the requirement for household = you and spouse and ( children ) and 2 parents

QUESTION 2:

If answer to question 1 is YES, how much ?

It changes each year but you are looking at a house hold of 4 or more so slight more than 30k

QUESTION 3:

If answer to question 1 is YES, what if they can prove they have money saved can they use that instead since I doubt my income will be high enough?

You must have assets worth 5 times ( 30 k - your incomes )

QUESTION 4:

How long does it Usually take to bring your both married parents ? I could not find any info about this.

Parents are immediate relatives about 1 year

QUESTION 5:

My sister is old Always lived with my parents and have epilepsi etc and need special care, would it be possible to bring all 3 at once?

No your sister will wait about 12 years if you petition her about 8 if your parents do after they arrive .

QUESTION 6:

If my parents come, can I and them at the same time petition for my 2 siblings and their wife/husbands & kids?

Yes under current immigration laws but immigration reform may change that You parents must become US citizens to petition a married child.

QUESTION 7:

If answer to question 6 is YES, will it be faster to bring them there because we all 3 petition at the same time? How much faster?

It depends on immigration reform Current 12 years for you ( their kids may age out ) and your parents must be USC ( 5 years ) and then wait about another 10 years. Immigration reform wants to take away both classes so they would not be able to come at all.

I hope the questions being direct will make it easier....Thank you SOO much for any response! =)

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hi guys thank you SO much for answering so specific. I appreciate it !
Let me ask you though since I'm Little confused regarding question # 1-3. That was waay too advance English for me hehe =)

I'm divorced and live by my self. I do not know what poverty level means.
I been trying to find the rules on immigrants self-sponsering for sweden but haven't been able to.

Question 1:
If i make around $16.000/year currently and wont petition until 1.5 more years, if I say that they will have Money enough to come over, do you mean they must have 5 times MORE than what's required

Question 2:

If I live in an apartment and were to bring my parents from Sweden, and since they have Money saved in cash (which of course they can convert in to dollar),

how much do I need and how much do they need when I petition for them?

Question 3:
And when it comes to how much I need to have, do I have to HAVE the Money or is it based on how much I make?

Actually wait, please ignore the last written post.

What I want to know is, WHICH option would be FASTEST To bring siblings over.

We are 6: me, my parents (still married), my 2 Brothers and ONE sister that is married and she has 2 kids (all Swedish Citizen).
Below are just calculations I made please correct me if I'm wrong.

Me as a US Citizen,

OPTION 1:

* 2015, I petition for MY WHOLE FAMILY (my parents, my 2 brothers + my sister).

* 2016, Parents arrive, and they with their greencards petition for their 2 sons (not my sister since she's married) (so my both brothers will have 2 petitions).

* 2021, My 2 brothers will come to US. Parents get citizenship and can now petition for my sister + her husband + kids (so my sister will have 2 petitions).

OPTION 2:

* 2015, I petition ONLY for my parents.

* 2016, Parents arrive, with their greencards petition for their 2 sons and I will ALSO petition for my brothers at the same time + my sister (so my both brothers will have 2 petitions).

* 2021, My 2 brothers will come to US. I will petition for my sister, AND my parents who are now citizens can also petition for my sister + her husband + kids (so my sister will have 2 petitions).

I would prefer option #2, so I don't have to petition all at once BUT if it would speed up the process if I did and my parents petitioning my siblings (double petition) and it would go faster then I guess option #1 would be best.

Your timing is very optimistic.

This is the best scenario. Its better to have more petitions than not. If a petitioner dies, you don't want the grief of applying for a substitute petitioner.

2015: You will file 5 petitions; 1 for dad, 1 for mom, and one for each sibling. That's about $1500 in fees.

2016: Mom and Dad comes to the US. They file for the unmarried siblings; $600 in fees.

2021: Parents are eligible for US citizenship. Afterwards, they can file for the married sister; $300 in fees.

2023-2024: The petitions filed by your parents for their unmarried children over 21 matures and visas becomes available. (8 years for an LPR to petition an unmarried child over age 21).

2027: The petitions you filed for your siblings matures and visas become available. (12 years for a USC to petition a sibling). Your sister and her kids under age 21 at this time are eligible for visas.

2032: The petition filed by your parents for their married daughter matures and visas become available. Your sister and her kids under age 21 at this time are eligible for visas.

Why doesn't family play diversity visa lottery? It's still out there - should start again with new entry period October/November 2013.

1. yes, is exact rules, study I-864 and instructions for I-864. The math is buried, but findable.

2. Study I-864P

3. general rules are 3 times 'lack of income' , made up in assets (cash is an asset, cash in a bank is an asset)

4. varies. 4 to 13 months.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
