Where it says reference type "correspondence"

Select teh range of dates you believe your package has left NVC

Type in NVC's zip code where it says postal origin "03801"

You will see all the packages leaving NVC and when they have been signed for. skim looking for your consulate

You wont ge a tracking number from NVC.

Call or email them to find out when they send the case to the consulate or embassy, they will give you a new case number to follow up with the consulate or embassy.

An automated recorded message system can answer many of these inquiries 24 hours a day, seven days a week (603 334-0700). Operators are available to respond to more difficult inquiries from 7:30 AM to 12:30 AM (EST) Monday through Friday. Status of case information and access to an operator can only be provided by entering your NVC case number or CIS receipt number on a touch-tone telephone. Case inquiries can also be made via email at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. NVC only has information on petitions it has received.

If you call them get a live operator the automated system wont have info. If you email them provide them with USCIS case number, and name and DOB or petitioner and beneficiary.

hi i wasnt able to find any shipments sent out between nov 20th and today, i got a letter dated November 23rd that says "dear petitioner the state depts nvc has recently recieved an approved i-129f petition filed on behalf of your fiance . this letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post where your visa interview will take place"

You can call NVC and see if they have a date the petition left. Also try emailing the consulate to see if they have received it.be sure to put the new case number assigned by NVC in the message title and include your fiance's name and date of birth.

You don't receive the number from NVC. You have to discover it.

GO to DHL Worldwide Express website http://www.dhl.com

Select USA

A new page will open

At the top highlight tracking and click on TRACK BY REFERENCE

In the Reference field type CORRESPONDENCE

For the Shipment date you should select a day before and after the date NVC said they sent your file.

Customer number leave blank

Origin Postal code should be 03801

Then Click Track (thanks to YuAndDan and to Randy for this info!)

thanks a lot. I've already emailed the nvc on friday and havent heard back from them ((probably b/c the weekend)) and I cant seem to get them on the phone it keeps hanging up on me over and over again

Keep calling NVC. You'll get through! Eventually, there will be a spot on the queue for you and you'll be placed in the HOLD queue. Be patient.

It took 3-4 days before NVC emailed me back. Wrote on Monday. Received message late nigth Friday (thanksgiving was Thursday).

ok.. update.. i just got off the phone with NVC and the lady told me the petition was shipped on Nov 22nd, but I dont see any tracking number show up in DHL? am I doing something wrong?

ok..nevermind... i figured out i spelled CORRESPONDENCE wrong... d'oh!

o great now another problem... NVC lady said it was sent on Nov 22nd, and when I look at a date range of Nov 22nd - 25th, my consulate does not show up!

I would wait another week or so and then call or e-mail the consulate in Algeria. They are extremely helpful (in my experience) and will probably write you back to let you know if the file has been received. But, sometimes things take extra time to arrive in Algeria, so I would wait a bit longer before contacting them.

You should come to the Middle East/North Africa forum. Several of us have gone through the Algerian consulate and may have some info for you.
