RFE one month after filing I-485…is that a good sign?

Hi everyone,

I just checked my AOS status (I filed in early July) and it says I got an RFE. I haven't received the letter yet, so I don't know what it's about. Is it normal for USCIS to get to work on AOS paperwork only one month after filing? Is this a good sign (meaning I might get my GC in a few months)?

I have no idea how long the current average wait for AOS is, so any info will be helpful.

Thanks!

That's the normal timeframe, not a good sign. They need things to be complete so they can approve the EAD and AP and send the I-485 on to the adjudicator. It works differently than a I-129F.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I just received the RFE in the mail, sort of the same thing here…I forgot to send in a copy of my father-in-law's passport with the AOS package (he is my co-sponsor). Mailing that back later today…and then we'll see.
