Hi everyone,

I am preparing the I 864 the affidavit support for my husband. Am I allowed to fill up these forms for him? Also do I fill out the last page (page 9) that I am the preparer ?

You can fill out the stuff, he has to still sign it... the preparer is for when an attorney or service is doing the work.

No you don't have to fill the last page if you paid someone or if someone else did it then that person will fill it out. Make sure when you put in his income for the last 3 years make sure it is not his adjusted gross income it need to be his total income (its a difference). Part 6 number 5 income needs to be put in number 10 also the total, that's only if he is not using anyone else income in the family. I am just giving you advice from the mistakes that I made.

Thank you Florida4life. Do you mean I'll put down his total income (before tax deduction)? How about the retirement money that he put away at time of tax?

In part 6 I have 13a, 13b, 13c, for 3 tax years. and 10 for total asset dont have #5

You don't need to mail it to him, just scan and email him the last page, have him sign it and date it, then scan it and email it to you. Then mail it to you so you have the original.

You're doing EP right?

Yes the income before the deductions. In part 6 sponsor income and employment #5 whatever you get there the amount needs to be put in #10 my current annual household income. If he is using his retirement to help him meet the income guide lines he would put that as assets.
