Its not right no, but it is the way they will fudge numbers to look better. The lucky few will have a 6-7 month approval and the rest will be 9 months.

I do however think 9 months will be the max most will wait from now on...

Man ...this sucks *sigh* i got over exited again ! its so hard all this waiting ,i mean we use Skype/Facebook/Whatsapp like 24/7 we try to visit each other every 3 month but its just not enough ! sometimes i go to the front page and read some posts about people that got unhappy once they were together ...what do you expect after knowing each other couple of month and meeting each other for a couple of days? I lived with my husband i have traveled with him cooked with him went grocery shopping every week with him we went to a favorite food place every Saturday (huhot) took care of our dogs together we spend every single free time together, i mean we had a life together and missing out on special moments with him as little as they are is really heartbreaking ! sorry for being so emotional and whiny today,like i said i got my hopes up too soon .

I agree with you Jamie & Izzy!! My husband and I lived together for over 3 years in India and we had a "normal" life. Its so unfair to take that from us and leave us supporting 2 households in 2 countries without the support of our spouses. We joke that we have lived together more before marriage than after, but its not really a joke its the truth! Since we married in May we have been together for 8 weeks whereas we were living together for 3 years before that!!

I agree. It's really sad and disheartening when they allow fiances to live together well before spouses, given the processing time of K-1 visas compared to CR/IR-1s.

US green-card holders are able to apply for spousal I-130 and get approval in 5 months. I know someone who applied in July as a green card holder and they are already at NVC. Even worse non-immediate relatives (siblings) were processed at USCIS in less than five months over these past few months. It's a disgrace!!!

Because they decided to stall all of the USC i-130s at the NBC so the DACA cases can be handled by the service centers. After the DACA cases were complete the service centers didn't have enough case work so any thing that made it to the service centers got approved in extremley short time. Example, K1, Greencard i-130s even the non-immediate family i-130s.

It's a numbers game. The casework for USC I-130s is a lot higher than any of these other categories. Taking this casework away from the service centers made a huge impact (allowing them to take care of the DACA cases). They didn't think about the impact on these cases being directly sent to service centers would have. It's incompetence.

They are continuing this by directly sending the latest i-130s directly to the service centers.

Only the USC I-130s were sent to the black-hole that is NBC!!!!

Apparently the applications for LPR i130s sit at NVC much longer than for USC. I don't know if it balances out, but I think it averages out to about the same total processing time.

Green card holders (LPR) I-130s were never sent to NBC. They are directly being processed at the service centers. Now after the transfers of USC I-130s I seriously hope they were sent back to the back of the queue. But I doubt it.

This LPR issue came up recently in the July thread too. There is no limit to the number of visas issued per year for immediate relatives of US citizens, but relatives of permanent residents fall under what's called a preference category, which means a limited number are allowed per year and they have to wait for a visa to become available (priority date matters for them). Their petitions are currently being processed more quickly, but the overall process to obtain a visa will indeed take longer.
