Ok thanks! sounds like its a good thing (slightly) to use a lawyer….. now i just hope to get a case number by mid April!

Sorry for being late to the party with an answer!

By using a lawyer, you have probably gained a couple of weeks at NVC. Basically, and most of the time AOS and IV are available for payment at the same time when you are using a lawyer. Which means that as soon as both are paid you can send off both packages.

For people that didnt use a lawyer, like myself, first we get AOS available and then we submit the DS-261, wait for that to be processed then IV becomes available.

With a lawyer, you don't submit the DS-261.

Whose ready for another week of anticipating ?

You know there's a 6-8 week wait till you get the case number at the NVC right ?

After the approval, there's a 6-8 week wait

Hi B&G,

Do you know if lawyer has to submit all the paper work at NVC stage, such as AOS packages and IV packages, or we do it ourselves? I am using lawyer and now that I think about it, it would be too much hassle to send him docs and wait for him to submit it to NVC. I would just rather do it myself.

You asked to B & G..

But I just have my opinion..

you will save lots of time if you do by lawyer. ( my friend told me and I think it's true)

I asked same question to him.

lawyer can send both packages together and pay fees together..

do not do it yourself..

if you have lawyer when u submitted I-130 than get help from him..

it's not hassle but it's about saving 2 to 3 weeks.

This is what I know..

You can ask some others too.

Good luck.

Thanks for your opinion, appreciate it. Makes sense to just let lawyer do it but he is usually busy and I don;t believe he will be as proactive. My question is if I want to do NVC process myself, I will have that option rt?

Btw, are you using lawyer?

Time being saved by having a lawyer is simply avoiding the choice of agent form, and the associated delay at NVC to get that selection in their system.

Now the simple question is when the fees become available after the case# is assigned who will get the fees paid quickest, who will get all of the document sent to NVC the quickest? That's the only question to consider. IMO, that's usually the applicant.

One quick thing.. if you had a attorney at the time of I-130 you already will gain the advantage at NVC of not having to fill out the choice of agent form.

Hi Deep,

Does our service center inform us when they shipped our approved files to NVC? My petition is approved on March 06 and I know that it might take two to three weeks to reach NVC. But is there anyway to know if the petition service center has shipped it or not? Thanks for your help!

Yes,,

two ways to know about that..

1) when you get hardcopy, it says on it that your case have been shipped to NVC from USCIS office..

2) you can call USCIS and talk with tier 2.. they can tell you also..
