So does USCIS check my criminal history also? So. USCIS checks, then NVC, then I have to get a police certificate anyone else think this is just to make extra £££££

July 2010: Met in Germany

Sept 14th 2012: Started Relationship (visited each other 20+ times since then)

May 1st – Aug 31st 2013: J1 Stay in US

Dec 23rd 2013– Jan 4th 2014: Trip together to Germany

Jan 30th, 2014: Married in VA!

Feb 11th, 2014: Back in Montreal

Feb 13th, 2014: Sent I-130 packet overnight (delayed by DC storm)

Hi! please can somebody tell me is there any other way to know if my case is approved other than the hardcopy? i mean do they also let you know by email or something? :/

TRANSFERRED: FEB. 07

LAST TRANSFER EMAIL FEB 11

You'll get a hardcopy. I was transferred on the 7th and approved on the 20th...got my hardcopy about a week ago I think. everything will come in order soon for you :)

I think the reason I find the NVC group confusing is that there are so many different procedures by country and all the links need to be updated with the new info/forms so that is confusing as well!

Because "some" foreigners have prior US visits (students, temporary workers, Visa-waiver visitors etc where crimes were committed on US soil ) and possible histories --- all foreigners have to go through it.

The NVC has a mandatory check.

Those two are US based checks - to ensure that you've never committed a crime on their soil and on US territories.

The police certificate ensures that you're of good moral character in YOUR country as well.

Thanks for clearing that up gabeRao! I was under the impression that it was checks on petitioner at USCIS and checks on beneficiary at NVC...
