NVC requires photocopies along with your certified copies, but you can't send only the photocopies. When I got married I purchased several copies of my marriage certificate, juuuust in case. All your originals/certified copies will be handed back after the interview, but there's no getting around NVC needing them.

Congrats Hirudin. ANy other updates/transfers since Friday and USCIS website now up? I think NVC lets you carry the originals to the interview as long as you submit photocopies. Similar to police certificates.

Hoping i get my transfer in the next couple of days.

So in other words, we can send certified (notarized and apostilled) copies of birth and marriage certificates to NVC and then bring originals with us to the interview, right?

That is what i believe to be the case. For absolute confirmation, When you reach the NVC level, you can ask them and they can tell you what docs can wait until the consulate stage. I know there have been multiple cases where original BC and MC were shown only at the consulate. As long as you have clear copies and notarized/certified by the right authorities it should work.
