So are police reports/criminal records certificates valid for only 6 months? How do I get one from the US if I am not there?

Another question to you all - If my husband files taxes as "married", does this mean we should live together? As of this moment, we do not live together and I am not sure how he shoukd file...

Thanks for your tips!

You can self certify the translation if you are bilingual.. You should have already got the Birth Certificates (I hope)--- the expiration date of 6 months does not apply to those but to criminal records and I think the medical is even less than 6 months..I think the medical records are only good for 14 days. ( I need to recheck that)

About the translations, I was under the impression that I could do my own, however some kind member on here uploaded the packet 4 list from the athens embassy and it stated that all translations must be done that the Greek department of foreign affairs translations unit. I'd say double check in the regional forums just in case. I'm glad I found it out now, translations usually take 2 weeks to be done and that's 2 weeks I don't want to waste!!

I think it depends on the embassy, for example in London police certificates are only valid for 6 months.

It may be regional, but I know that in Honduras they will accept self certification- I was told that by the local office here USCIS -- I should be careful in dispersing info-- it probably does depend on WHERE.

I just got the "On February 13, 2014, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN."

Update. I think this means someone has started to work on my file. But a little scared now that those who got the quick approvals didn't see this :-(

Anybody else got this update?

I also got this update on my 129F application within a few days of sending it, but that was them combining the two applications together. AFIK

You don't need a police certificate from the US, even if you lived there before for more than six months. All countries where you lived for over 6 months after age of 16 other than US require a police clearance certificate.

You still need to file married regardless of living situation. You have to decide if you want to file Married-separate or Married-joint.

In Peru, you only can take the medical exams when you have your date appointment because the embassy give a list of doctors and when you call the doctor he asks your appointment date.
