Ops... sorry! I thought I'd changed that, but I apparently did not. My PD is August 21 but the notice was dated August 26. I didn't know the difference when I created the profile so I used the notice date instead. I've changed it (again!) Hope it's captured this time.

Yes!!! Friday!!! Best Valentine's Day gift EVER!!! dancin5hr.gif

Thanks! It sounds like this won't be too hard then! The only other problem is that his original BC also had a different name (his dad named him Raju and that is the only name that was on his original BC just Raju with no surname or anything) but then when he started school he changed his name and has been going by Abhijeet since school (all school records, Pan car, passport etc are in new name) so this might also cause some issues I think?

Eh.

This might be a tricky one. If his mother's an attorney (sorry.. advocate biggrin.png ) an affidavit from her with the new name + Pan Card + Aadhar + his grade 10 report card should be enough to get a new birth certificate.

If I were him, I would get the ball rolling and get that "RBD certificate"

You are going to be approved literally any day now.

Ignore what the NVC or the i-130 instructions say - the US Embassy in Mumbai will not accept any other secondary proof now that the Indian government has made it extremely convenient to get it done.

Also make sure the name of this "new" birth certificate matches the name on his passport.

I am going through some fresh hell bc this.

Oh and.. im in pune right now biggrin.png

yay

My husband and I filed 8/7/13, and we received a notice that we have been transferred to the California office dated 2/5/14. Are these posts saying people are getting approved within days of being transferred?

You should have (or will in the next coming days) receive a letter in the mail at the petitioner's address (or your attorney's address) stating which service center your file was sent to (California or Texas). The name of the center will only be indicated in the hard copy.

For those transferred to California, post transfer - the wait is between 2-14 days - thats what the "instant" approvals are all about.

They're being approved 2-14 days post-transfer.

Here's the entire list (I added you on here) for August.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsvZPBxJt8H4dDdiM2tUS0ZsTGhtbGxSN05uUGF5WGc#gid=0

Let us know when you get approved (and where you were transferred to, CSC=california, TSC=texas)

hmm I'm telling Abhi this now on phone so his mom is going to look into the RBD, his mother is not an attorney its his mama (mom's brother)

I also just told him if he is getting a new BC issued to have it match his passport name so there will not be any confusion

where in pune? I worked in viman nagar and lived in kalyani nagar! I soooooo LOVED pune! we even went back and got married there since Bangalore was just never "home" to us like pune felt like home!

Hey everyone - I'm getting a little ahead of myself here, but hey who isn't?! What's the current time frame that NVC is working now? From reading the guides and posts, it appears that the NVC stage is another 2-3 month wait, is that still the case?

Thanks!
