anybody got this message from USCIS today: can someone please tell me what is going wrong....

On February 12, 2014, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Did you make sure that you submitted all of the required documents per their guidelines? Seems like you were missing a document or so (that is my guess). Also - is your file at CSC or TSC?

If you are planning on getting birth certificate issued. You can hire agents usually and may not even have to go there. they can expedite and will organize the docs for you as well. As long as you have those secondary required docs. In the long run, best to have it anyway. Good luck.

Thanks! Hubby's mama is an advocate so he is going to look into this for us and possibly save the time/hassle of traveling to Bhopal. I figured better get moving on this now rather than wait for the i130 approval to happen and then start the process

Congrats, everyone!

Someone mentioned 2-year home residence requirement under J-1 visa. Do you know how carefully they are checking every day? When do they check it? At the embassy during the interview?

My spouse is subject to the two-year rule...I did consult with an immigration lawyer, who told me "two years is two years", i.e. don't try to cheat, and that they will ask for proof at the interview. One can prove the two years with passport stamps, pay stubs from a job, etc.

However, I don't know whether they add up the days carefully to reach 365x2 = 730. If someone schedules the interview two weeks early, does the visa application get rejected? I don't know.

Today i went to get some of my paper work done just to see how long it would take, and if they are still fine by the time we need them fine if not i`ll just get them again, for 2 month every person i asked told me to go to a different location (my Arabic is okay not that great)...So i just got up early took my ID card and went to any place that gives Vital records and started asking them ...Yeah even they had no freaking clue ! It was not very far from where i live but it still took me 3 hours when it could have been 10 minutes lol, first i went to the police station they told me before getting the Police records i need 3 things a 20dh Stamp ,Moroccan Birth Certificate the short one,and Chahadat Sukna (residency document ?) anyways i went ahead to get these things ,at the place where i got my ID card issued they told me i don`t need the Chahadat sukna ...Just Copy of my ID card and Birth Records okay then, i asked for if they can give me my Birth Records (after running up and down and officers pointing at who ever i need to go ask ) they told me that i have to go to an another place to get it depending in what hospital i was born in ? i asked if they can check and give me the address and they did.

Then i go to this new place got my BC got it stamped just in case even got my ID card copy stamped all ready to go now .

I then went back to the police station and they told me they don`t give out the records there and that i had to go to another place to get the Police Records headbonk.gif okay ... so i went there found the office that i needed (it was raining in the office and over peoples documents) i ask him about Police records he said i need copy of your ID card and that was it ! arghh Non of the things i did before was needed ! then he said you can come pick it up tomorrow mellow.png

Alrighty then time for my Court Records and i decided i`m not going to listen to anyone anymore ,went in Court place thingy asked for Court records showed my ID card and gave the stamp ,Again ...it was all i needed ,i asked if they will put "Nothing" on it, he looked at me and said with a face like yours what else should i put on it ? lol, Police records will be done in 3 days and court records in 1 day ,oh an everyone was talking to me as if i was 14 ...which was very annoying lol i wont bother translating them yet i now that it takes 1-2 days for that ,now at least i know where to go and what i need instead of wondering and going crazy asking people around .

I also noticed that they put single on my documents even if i`m married ... i told them i am married they said no not in Morocco .you have to get married in Morocco i really hope that wont cause problems ...next time i will bring my husband with me ! ( he will come visit me in 9 days goofy.gif )

So just go ahead and start doing your paper work or just ask around more `im sure it can save tons of times ,hope this helps.

our lawyer gave us this info for next step- look correct>? I have not had a chance to read the massive first 2 posts on the Feb NVC thread but will ..

"I wanted to give you an idea, just in case you were not aware, of the next steps of your process after the I-130 Petition is approved and the approval is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC):

USCIS Sent My (Approved I-130) Immigrant Visa Petition to the NVC. Now What Happens?

1 The NVC will invoice the Petitioner for the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and the Immigrant Visa Application fees (Form DS 260). NOTE: We cannot pay these fees until the NVC receives the I-130 approval and fee bills are issued.

2 Once all the fees have been paid, we need to compete the Immigrant Visa Application and send the NVC the Affidavit of Support and all the required Supporting Documentation (Please see below list of Supporting Documentation). NOTE: We cannot complete the DS 260 or send the Affidavit of Support and Supporting Documentation until the NVC has confirmed receipt of fee payment.

3 Once the Immigrant Visa Application is completed and submitted, and all the required Supporting Documentation is received, the NVC will send a letter confirming their file is complete and they will hold the Immigrant Visa Application until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate General abroad.

4 Once the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate provides an interview date and time, they will send us a letter with all of the interview information including information about the Medical Examination. NOTE: The Medical Examination can only be done approximately 2 or 3 weeks prior to the interview date. You will hand provide the Medical Examination to the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate the day of your interview.

Supporting Documentation

· Birth Certificate(s) - You (and any family member(s) immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted. The certificate must contain the: Date of birth, Place of birth, Names of both parents, Indication by the appropriate authority that it is an extract from the official records REQUIRED OF PETITIONER AND BENEFICIARY

· Court and Prison Records (if applicable) ONLY BENEFICIARY

· Deportation Documentation (if applicable) ONLY BENEFICIARY

· Marriage Certificate - If you are married, you must obtain an original marriage certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority.

· Marriage Termination Decrees (if applicable) You must obtain an original divorce decree, death certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority ONLY BENEFICIARY

· Military Records (if applicable) ONLY BENEFICIARY

· Color photocopy of valid passport Biographic Data Page ONLY BENEFICIARY (We already have this in our file.)

· Photographs Two (2) identical color photographs (Passport Style) ONLY BENEFICIARY

· Police Certificates - Each applicant aged 16 years or older must submit police certificates that: (1) Cover the entire period of the applicants residence in that area; (2) is issued by the appropriate police authority; and (3) includes all arrests, the reason for the arrests(s), and the disposition of each recorded case ONLY BENEFICIARY

How do I obtain a police certificate? Immigrant visa applicants who have resided in the United Kingdom for six months or more since the age of sixteen are required to obtain a Police Certificate from the Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Records Office (ACRO).

In order to complete the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) we will need from PETITIONER:

1- Income Tax forms for 2013 with all supporting schedules

2- Form W-2 for 2013

3- Statement from your employer on business stationery (A letter from your employer must show the date you began employment, the type of work done, and your income.)

4- Copy of Drivers License"

So we have to submit the original original original birth cert?? Is a US notarized copy not enough?

Does anyone know?

I just don't feel so comfortable sending originals by mail... If it gets lost, it'll be so difficult to retrieve because I was born in a random country.
