Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Do you know if your friend had filed it DCF or expedite? because as of right now processing time for I-130 is anywhere from 8-12 months.

First time on here, excited to find others in the same boat as me and my family. My husband who is an American citizen and me are living. In Sweden with our daughter, we have another baby boy due in December, we married this summer and filed in august, (we have been engaged for years). I had no idea it would take this long, or we would have started the process sooner.. So stressful with a baby due in December and a 16 month girl.. My husband has to leave Sweden in April as his visa here expires.. See our dilemma? So I would be left here with out two children and he goes home without us, this is such a critical time for a baby to bond with his parents and our daughter will miss her father so much.. This process is damaging for them and for us parents as none of us wants to be apart from our children and spouse for god knows how long.. Is there anything to do to speed things up? Because I doubt our I-130 will be done in time for us to leave with him.. Our kids are automatically American citizens by birth... Advice anyone?

Hi Quitepainful we have the same timeline :-).

We sent ours to the Chicago Lockbox on the same day as yours 8/15/2013 and because my USC spouse lives in Delaware we were expecting it to be sent to the Vermont VSC but our NOA1 says MSC=NBC.

I hope that is a good thing meaning hoping MSC is a quick processing center, I know we all have to wait months but hoping it will be in less than 5 months for us to get our noa2.

Good luck to you all Aug filers ;-)

I m also there, august 2013 filer. NOA1 date is 8/15/2013. Petition is in NBC. Receipt number starts with MSC*********. Still its on initial review. Keep our finger crossed for NOA2. Glad we re all on the same boat. Hope i will get more infos from august filers. will keep in touch

Hello all,

I am Canadian and my husband is a USC living in Tennessee. We filed our I-130 for CR-1 on August 19th, 2013 and received our NOA1 on August 22nd, 2013. Our case is currently being processed at the NBC in Kansas. I noticed a few days ago that USCIS is now posting processing times for I-130s for spouses of USCs that are being processed at the NBC. Current processing time is 11 months. As of August 31st, 2013, they have only started processing cases filed in October 2012!! Has anyone else looked into this as well?

It's being stored at the NBC in Kansas. Well, things are bad, but not Oct. 2012 bad. USCIS provides this bogus date to prevent you from filing a complaint. At any rate, the backlog continues to grow. We are still not getting approvals like we did before the backlog mess started. If it's a repeat of Monday then nothing will have changed. It's still a net positive number of petitions.

Approved!

NOA2 email

We woke up with the "approved, post-action activity" email this morning.

Again for clarity we are filing from abroad, both of us from France.

We tried to expedite last week (bad parent situation, but not us personally). They said it was not reason for expedite but a tier 2 said just turn the proof in so they could see what exactly are the details. We got the confirmation that they recieved the documents but never heard back. We sent the documents to Lees Summit, but our NOA1 was addressed Overland Park.
