Once you have a case number you just start checking as to when the fees become available online. First is the AOS payment and then the IV. Take into consideration that they do take a while for things to be processed in between the AOS and IV.

As far as I know as soon as the AOS becomes available for payment and you have paid it, you can send the AOS package. Same goes for the IV too.

Our NOA2 was on Feb 20th so a case number by mid April is what I am hoping for. I don't think that NVC will be picking up speed anytime soon.

With USCIS having approvals flying out of most service centres at the moment, the backlog at NVC will not likely decrease.

I would be happy for a case complete at NVC by late Jun.

Maybe I'm low balling my dates but I would rather be suprised by something earlier than start stressing if the imagionary date in my head is not met!

Edit: Sorry! I just remembered that you guys have used a lawyer. Both the AOS and IV fees will become available for payment at the same time!

Hey, I just saw your edit, what do you mean "We used a lawyer so both the AOS and IV fees will become available for payment at the same time!"

Does using a lawyer mean it is different? from your ! at the end of the sentence this looks like a good thing?

Thanks, I saw it… but because this happened to one person does it make it a "thing"? i.e: how do you/we know that if you use a lawyer both become payable at the same time?

Which from B&G's response seems a good thing...

ok. um.. as a RULE, no DS-261 is needed when you use a lawyer

it could be any flavor of lawyer or lawyers

One week from case number availaiblity - you'll get both iv and aos invoiced at the same time

now, to answer your question based on what i see, some folk are able to pay both (you have to use IE consistently) -- others simply pay AOS and end up waiting 7 more days to pay IV

it doesnt matter one isnt incumbent on the other

they both become available to pay at the same time for sure.

like.. its a "thing"

Ok thanks! sounds like its a good thing (slightly) to use a lawyer….. now i just hope to get a case number by mid April!
