hello to all, happy eid for all of u , I have important issue to ask about,

I met my wife in states and married in Egypt , my interview is in 8 days , my wife is converted muslim ,American , divorced twice and I am separated from my wife here in Egypt , my American wife knows all about it , but the question is , she asked me not to mention any thing about my Egyptian wife , saying it doesn't matter to the states that u married in ur country , I will divorce the Egyptian in court after the interview as we have bending case in court , my American wife lives with me here in Egypt , so now im confused , to mention that im married in Egypt or they really don care ??? all papers say im single before marriage to my American beloved wife , I want to say to councle if asked and explain ,will this affect the case to deny it? my wife really hate life in Egypt and want to go back to states ,what should I do? need ur advice.

If it is not too late now, it will be as soon as the background checks are done and the U.S. government discovers you are married.

You can go ahead and go to your interview because that's your right, but don't expect to be approved.

Cancel the petition. Divorce your first wife. And start over and do it the right and legal way. It is your only chance. Like everyone is telling you - if you get caught it is a lifetime ban - and you will get caught. From what I understand they do check these things. Think very carefully about this.

Good lord. Honestly it is pointless to retract this application and re-apply after you've divorced the first one, as some have suggested here. It doesn't change the fact that you lied and that is easy enough to verify. Maybe if you had been honest from the get-go the petition would have been denied but you would not necessarily have been given a misrepresentation bar or found inadmissable. You'll certainly get it now or when you re-apply. Your American wife should get used to living in Egypt because I can guarantee you at this point you'll never set foot here. If she's cool with polygamy then my guess is she's better off there than here.

It's easy to determine if an Egyptian man is married. Just go to the police station, enter their name into the publicly accessible computer and poof! there's the answer. Digitized records are gathered much more quickly than paper records. Besides, whether a man is married or not is denoted on the back of his official ID card and in his passport.

The US government almost assuredly already knows, particularly because it's so close to the interview date, and there's no un-ringing the bell..

What I find disturbing is the American wife dismissed all of the marriages in Egypt as not applicable because she's "not under U.S. laws." Of course she is. For example, she is still required to file an income tax return. That "law" doesn't change because she's out of the country. He's married to both #1 and #2 and claiming to be single on documents doesn't change official records. In a way I feel bad for this guy because he seems to be following the advice of his horribly misguided wife #2 and she should know better than to lie to the government.

Yeah, #2 should probably learn to love living in Egypt if she wants to stay married and not commute to see her husband a couple of times a year.

Wow.

Well, when wife #2 filed the I-130, she filed and lied.

When you submitted the DS-230 into NVC, you lied.

That's 2 humans lying.

The lie will get found in 8 days, so what should you do?

I say:

1. cancel the visa appointment.

2. divorce from wife #1, get legal paperwork proving it.

3. divorce from wife #2, get legal paperwork proving it.

4. marry wife #2 (again).

5. politely ask wife #2 to file new I-130 for you.

That's it, that's all. <EOM>

If you do not cancel your visa appointment now, that will be the first question they ask you at the interview. They will verify your marriage to your second wife and when they see the 1st wife, well your pretty much done. I am sorry that your wife talked you into lying on your papers, or that she felt that only American Law would apply here.

Be certain that you understand something. On the divorce papers from wife #1, what is the date? Because if its after you were married to wife #2, you are still not legally married to her and if you listed on all your forms a certain date of marriage and your divorce papers contradict, it will look very bad for you my friend.

Yeah. Doesn't look like anyone got it wrong except you and your second wife (to whom you're not legally married in the US).

He is legally married to them both, in the US, Egypt or anywhere else, it's the fact that the US only recognises the first marriage for immigration purposes that is the issue.

The issue is he potentially lied, and said he wasn't married to somebody else. This greatly affects his chances of getting a visa and lets just be real about it, being from a MENA country, he (saying he adds even more) will be more heavily scrutinized and if you give the embassy/consulate a reason to deny, they will and possibly ban.
