i paid with a money order. before sending it, i made a copy. so if they require proof i'll present them w/ the copy. they can call the 800 number and verify it using the serial number on the money order

Embassy never asks the applicant about the IV Fee when it is paid in USA to separtment of state. However, for the piece of your mind, the customer copy of the money order/cashier check can be taken during the interview.
