Do a little bit of research on how African Americans got those American last names. You won't find many immigrant Africans changing their last names.

You're right, doesn't mean it doesn't sound good Just what it reminds me of. I actually quite like the flow.

Otherwise I agree with christeens suggestions that a shorter last name would sound good too. Are you keeping a middle name?

I also kind of agree that some of these names are too boring sounding... too average. Have you considered a last name common in other countries but less common here? Like my sister's husbands last name is a German last name. It's definitely not a "Jones" or "Smith" last name. Have you tried a random name generator? Have you considered combining 2 names or a few names that you like?
