Immunization Help-Problem Getting Records

Another road block to getting what we need....we called my husband's Dr's office to obtain his immunization records and they gave me the # for where the records are kept. I called them and was told the registry started a few years after his birthdate in 1968. She suggested getting bloodwork done (titers) to show what he has immunities to.

Has anyone come across this and what was their next step?

He did say that he received some shots during school but they won't have record of that. I was told that records are distroyed shortly after they finish highschool. So all we have is record of a tetnus in '98

Yes. Me too. They have no record of me getting my shots. We had ours done in school. I have asked the Health Unit in my area if they would write a letter for me. I went a few weeks ago to get my booster for Tetnus/Dyptheria and I got my Flu shot. I have to phone them back and talk to one of the Nurses. I only talked to the Receptionist there. I will phone now and let you know what they say.

Try calling the doctor that will do his medical and ask them wich shots are really necessary. Then he can choose to either take those vaccines again or do some blood tests to show each ones he got.

I didn't have any records as well .. my doctor just gave me the MMR and Tetnus shots again as they would not be harmful to me and is less expensive than titre tests (I'm 34). Hope this helps :)

My Dr ran the titres, then gave me the shots I needed, all for free. It took about a week to get the results back from the lab, so make sure you give yourself enough time.

here is a list of the Immunizations ....

See what immunizations you need according to your age group

I got the titers done and it didn't cost me anything ... I think it depends on the doctor...

My fiancee wasn't able to get a hold of her records so she had a blood test done. The results were faxed to Toronto and then they sent her the results by a courier. She could've had the test/shots at her medical but they would've charged her. She went to a clinic. She needed a requisition, I think. As for chicken pox/tetnus, they took her word for it.

If one is in Saskatchewan, you can contact public health I believe (cal ur DR he would know) and they should have the records. They still had mine. They faxed them to me with no probs

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'm in Alberta. I made some phone calls yesterday. The last person I was told to call, I did and left a message. Still waiting to hear back from them. I also phoned the health unit and left a message to ask if nothing comes through if I can just get the MMR shot again. I got my Tetnus/Dyptheria booster a few weeks ago there. It didn't cost me anything. I'm still wating to find out either way.
