K-1 London Embassy Medical - Drugs Test?

about 5 hours there and back. gonna be a long day

She got an email from London the day after her medical (packet 4 ) saying she had an interview date

She got an email most likely because she *expressly* asked for an email response to confirm her date and that her fiancé was on the embassy access list in her cover letter that went with her DS-2001. They will normally send a letter (well, they always send a letter - emails too when appointment is short notice, or it turns out expressly asked for). Edited by lost_at_sea

Your appointment is scheduled for 03SEP at 09.00. Your fiancé name will be added to the access list for that day. You will receive an appointment letter through the post shortly.

I put on my cover letter "I would also like to formally request that my US citizen fiance Chris Brown be allowed to attend my interview with me, and please could this be confirmed by responding to me by e-mail at ______@gmail.com".

Oh sent my 'readiness' form off today - wish I had added my email address, but nevermind! Hope our interviews come around quickly too!

Did you include a covering letter with your DS-2001? That should have included your e-mail address and date of wedding and medical - 1/2 way down step 2 here - http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

Yes I did do a cover letter with all those things on - I just didn't specifically ask for an email of my appointment, so don't know if they will email me?

I think that QoB's experience is the exception rather than the rule. I think she was told the date of her interview because she asked for permission for her fiance to accompany her and they just happened to have the date to hand.

Personally. I think too much is being drawn from QoB's experience.

Yes perhaps you're right and she was lucky, Hopefully we will be lucky too and they'll get their butts into gear and give us a quick turnaround!

Does anyone know how long the medicals at London normally take?

Like, actually at it? about 40 minutes. If it's busy and you're there later in the day, they may fall behind and you might be waiting a while. Budget in an hour and a half to your day. It's a 3-part thing, like a conveyor belt. :) You do a chest x-ray (10 mins), then the examination with the doctor (the longest part - 25 mins if nothing needs much explaining) then a chat with the vaccination nurse (and jabs if you're getting any - about 15 minutes).

Oh that's not too bad - hopefully there won't be a bajillion people there and we'll get done quickly.

What exactly does the doctor examine?

Ah, well, rather than repeat stuff.. there's a whole thread over here of people's medical experiences, so you can find out exactly what they examine: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/8321-london-medical-knightsbridge-doctors/

It's a full physical examination.
