I'm a 70+ year old widower who plans to marry a 65+ year old widow who is a German citizen. I've got the K-1 visa application in the process and have been re-reading the instructions for the forms that we'll have to file after the K-1 visa approval. In the instructions for the I-131 it specifically states that one may apply for Advanced Parole "if you have a pending application to adjust status, Form I-485, and you seek to travel abroad for "urgent humanitarian reasons" or in furtherance of a "significant public benefit" which may include a personal or family emergency or bona fide business reasons." We have a property in Europe which must be looked after at least once a year. The instructions further state that "Travel for a vacation is not a valid purpose". Since the AOS will not be granted until approximately two years after we have married, does this mean that we can't travel to Europe to maintain our property until the AOS has been granted???

Since we won't know exactly when, and for how long, we would be traveling when we make the I-131 application (it will be made at the same time as the I-485) how can we insert travel dates into the application? Although this is probably not the appropriate forum to ask this question, I'll ask anyway: Why should someone who is married and has applied for adjustment to permanent resident status be denied the right to travel abroad?

Any insight that anyone has about this will be greatly appreciated.

AP is not only for emergencies and it doesn't take 2 years for AOS to be approved. AP is routinely approved for people with pending I-485. You can put unknown in the date boxes.
