Hello Everyone,

My fiance is set to get the results back from her sputum test in early October. Assuming the results are negative, we're trying to figure out how long before she would have a visa in hand after that. I know St Luke's will set the embassy interview date.

In trying to plan for a wedding, if she gets her results back around Oct 2, does a mid-November wedding sound reasonable? Hoping she'll be here for at least two weeks before the wedding.

Thanks!

You don't have a clue how far out the interview date will be, SLEC will not setup the interview date until after the results, it could be November before she gets her interview. IF the results are negative.

My Fiance also got dinged yesterday during her medical with "there is something on your chest x-ray..."

She told me they gathered a group of about 40 people into a room. One-by-one called them to the counter to break the news. BUT everyone could hear what was going on at the counter so they knew what was happening.

SLEC only does sputum test on Mon, Tue and Wed and they already met their 200 people quota for next week so she has to wait until week of Aug 21st.

As advised, I'm not planning anything until the results.

I hope its negative for the sake of her health not because I'm going broke making trips to the Philippines every 3 months because I miss her.

We rescheduled our own appointment (2 weeks after expected results) in hopes to speed up the process.

Yeah, I'm thinking about this as I have a feeling SLECs scheduling will be further out than if we did it ourselves. But I can't help but wonder if it complicates things if we do it ourselves if the embassy expects some kind of verification from SLEC.

rescheduling an interview date does not require any verification from SLEC. I think if you do this that it would be good for your fiancée to mention when she goes back to St. Luke's for the results of the test.

Did you inform SLEC when you went back for the results of the testing? Just curious.

We still have about 16 days until we are expecting our results, so I guess we will find out then what will happen?

I read somewhere that its ok to schedule your own appt if its a K-1? Even if SLMC don't allow the appt we still can reschedule with them, you can make up to 3 appt changes...worth a shot? We will find out soon...good luck

You can reschedule twice without having to pay a new visa fee.

Restrictions to Changing Appointments

Please be reminded that even though nonimmigrant visa fees are valid for one calendar year, options to schedule an appointment are limited. The U.S. Embassy in Manila schedules hundreds of thousands of nonimmigrant visa appointments each year and must accommodate requests both for new appointments and for those applicants who need to reschedule their appointments for whatever reason. Applicants are only allowed to reschedule twice (not including the initial appointment) without penalty. If the second rescheduling attempt is canceled, an applicant will only be allowed to reschedule a new date after a waiting period of 90 days. Please plan your visa application accordingly to avoid problems securing an interview appointment.

FWIW, SLEC scheduled her embassy appointment 1 week after her final medical from the negative sputum. On a Monday was the "8 weeks", she went there that Wednesday to finish the medical, and they got her an embassy interview the following Wednesday.

That is good to hear. Thank you for sharing that
