although rules on the uscis website says 864 doesn't commence until green card is issued, an immigration attorney told me 864 commences once it's signed.

That attorney is completely wrong.

Ensure you follow up on the withdrawal. I know of someone who didn't and the GC was approved. Make an INFOPASS and follow up on it. This is very important.

I have no other advice except to organise a 3rd party for the exchange of the child/ren so that you are not in contact with her. I suggest you never call or text her. it's hard with a kid involved but you need to protect yourself (and your child).

'don't anything in their records' sounds like the I-864 withdrawal letter not make it into the casefile.

You should chase that down, make that happen, nowish.
