Hi all, longtime lurker, first time poster. Some valuable information is given on this site (especially from Gary and Alla dealing with Ukr) and I could use some help now.

Long story, will be concise as possible. While living in Kiev for 5 years I had an affair with a married Ukrainian lady. She was married to an Irish guy, they are divorced since March 2011. They had a child during this marriage, BUT the child is mine...for certain. Her ex-husband has no rights on the child, she completed this process after their divorce, but his name is on the birth certificate and I need to get mine on there because, I am a US Citizen and we are going through a Consular Report of Birth Abroad process (or will be after a name change on the birth certificate). We are also marrying finally and will legitimize this process. We are doing a proxy marriage later this month. My soon-to-be wife is scared to death of dealing with ZAGS so I am trying to find out as much information as possible before she goes there and deals with this. Does anyone know the process of doing this? Does Ukraine allow for DNA testing to prove paternity and if so how to go about it because I am unable to travel to Ukraine anytime in the near future and would have to do the test here in the US.

The Embassy requires my name to be on our daughters Ukrainian birth certificate before we can proceed with the CRBA so this is of the utmost importance.

Many thanks.....

I think you may have trouble with the proxy marriage when it comes time for the immigration process. But, I've never heard of anyone trying to imigrate from Ukraine with a proxy marriage. I wish you luck...

No, believe me, the proxy marriage is the least of our worries...she already has a B2 visa to come over in September...this will meet the USCIS regs for a consummation. But you are correct, a proxy marriage is not recognized unless the marriage has been consummated.
