Thanks everyone.

I managed to get a printout of my vaccination record, so that's something.

I saw a counsellor this year, though that was private and not through the NHS. Do you think maybe a letter from her would be suitable instead of a GP one?

Yes, it would help to have information from someone who knows you longer than the 15 minutes the Knightsbridge doctor does. If she would state that she does not consider you will harm yourself or others, then that's really what the Knightsbridge doctor is trying to determine. Letterhead and her professional qualifications stated will give it more importance than something that looks like a plain note your mum wrote.

Yeah lemme just jump in here.

The receptionist has no right whatsoever to make any kind of medical decisions or judgments. He or She has no right to refuse you anything unless you're being abusive. You're requesting an appointment for vaccinations nothing more. They can ask what vaccinations you want so they can be ordered but that's it.

Complain.

Comment on nobbie's post "The jabs I just got done at knightsbridge doctors, (weds 7 Aug.) tetanus diptheria polio was one, "

Tdap is tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough). Polio is not on the adult list.

But be prepared to stand your ground. The female doctor I saw said my TDAP (which I knew was with polio) was sound and had been signed off by the nurse doing the vaccs check. She even suggested that the version with Pertussis was primarily for women of child bearing age ?

The Tdap line is ticked with "next due in 10 years ) and the polio line is unchecked/ age inappropriate. So who knows - perhaps the nurse just read mine wrong.

And of course the price list includes them both...

I saw your post about that. If they ticked it, you are done. But I commented so people wouldn't think it actually stood for polio in the US when it says Tdap. I think in the UK, they immunize with a 5 in 1 DTaP, IPV, Hib-vaccine covering diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, and Haemophilus influenzae type b. So it's likely you have record or pertussis and polio or they just don't even know the immunizations at Knightsbridge. Anyway, you got credit for Tdap.

So I phoned the Knightsbridge people and asked them what jabs I needed, and was told updated MMR as I only had proof of one, and tetanus. Went to my nurse who gave me the MMR and tetanus(polio and diphtheria rolled up) for free, because they are free for babies and so they should remain free for adults if you are not up to date :)

I feel the pain of dealing with GPs/receptionists.

I've not had quite such a bad time of it (so far!) but I am getting exasperated by dealing with mine.

Initially they were going to charge me £20 for a print-out of my immunizations... but luckily when I got my TD booster I managed to sweet talk the nurse to print off the list there and then.

However I have had to pay £40 for a "supporting letter" regarding my history of depression; was told it could take up to two weeks and am into my second week now. Despite one receptionist saying "It could take a while, he gets a LOT of these!" when I paid, every time I have phoned up to check if it's done yet they seem as though they don't know what I am talking about! Doesn't fill me with confidence! Oh well, back to waiting I go...!

OP did you get it all sorted in the end? I hope so :)
