A steak and ale pie at Westminster Arms in London, 2011. It was so juicy and flavorful with a wonderfully flaky crust

A few months ago the girlfriend and I were in London for a rugby match, and couldn't be bothered with the hour and a half wait to get a table at TGIs in Covent Garden so we wandered down a few streets and found a little family run steakhouse.

I've never before, never since and probably never will have steak as delicious as that, I can't even remember the name of the restaurant but when we're there next we'll be searching every street in London to find it again.

I just hope it's still as good.

Not food as such but many years ago I spent some time in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia as a peacekeeper, one of the more dull jobs we had to do occasionally was take vehicles down to the port in Croatia for return to UK when units swapped over. The job had one redeeming feature, about halfway along the route was a small gas station/café where we'd stop for a break and a cup of coffee.

You can keep your Starbucks and Costa and any of your high street brands of coffee, none of them could ever beat the perfection in a small cup that this place would serve.
