How long for NVC?

We got NOA2 on July 30th. I called 'USCIS' and they said our case is out of their hands. Is that on its way to NVC? Or they just don't have time to open and say that they have it?

I am clueless. Its like things are in the air! I have been told it takes 1 or 2 weeks for NVC.

Once its there, do they schedule the interview without any delay? If anyone has any information, please let us know.

In my case it took 3 weeks, I don't think you need to worry.

It can take as long as a month (or, less) for the petition to go from USCIS to the NVC. The I-129F doesn't stay very long at the NVC, typically.

We were approved on July 10th and as of August 6th, still no sign of our case at the NVC. It's very disheartening, especially as we were hopeful that we'd get through the rest of the process before September 15th, when I'd planned to fly out to the US for a couple months over Halloween/Thanksgiving. But if it still hasn't even made it to the NVC, I'm doubtful I'll get the medical and interview done within 5 weeks. I'm calling twice a week just hoping to get the case number, so I can get the medical booked. Disappointingly, I don't think we'll be getting married this year

I wonder if its just the uk applicants its taking long for.you should have received yours by now. I only got approved 29th July and I called and was told 8 weeks. Someone in another thread said they called dos and got there number after getting repeatedly told by NVC they had not received their file yet.

I did see that, but couldn't see a number for calling DoS.

But if I call them and can get my case number, and get my medical organised asap, what'll happen if the London embassy STILL don't have my file by the time they get the medical results? Will this slow things down even more while they try and match them up?

At the very least, if I can get my medical sorted before September, I can book my interview for December and head over to my fiancee for New Years

I was thinking about searching for the dos number and calling them up today. At least if they tell me call back I can call back next week. As for the medical call up the nights bridge docs they will be able to tell you when the medical expires I would think it should have at least 3 months expiration once done. Your file will be there before that.

Also there seems to be a little wait of about two weeks to get a appointment for medical so I would think you will be alright. Once received by NVC they DHL it to London which only takes about 5 days tops.

It's worth noting that I received an email from London where they confirmed they received my info on the 19th July so I imagine that NVC's definition of "received date" is actually when they put the file onto the system (not when they actually physically received it) Boxes full of files to be entered into their system sounds more feasible than the files actually taking 4 weeks to move from one location to the next.

Luckily I didn't wait for packet 3 as it only arrived yesterday (7th Aug) I wrote to the embassy explaining our situation and the delays which was why they emailed me telling me to send the forms listed on this page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html as they'd received the file on the 19th.

So by that deduction it might be worth contacting the London embassy as soon as NVC say they've received the file and you have a case number? As they may give you the go ahead to send your paperwork without waiting for packet 3! Potentially this could save over two weeks.

Yes. I called them three times and the waiting time average is less than 3 minutes.

Just FYI:

Our NOA2 is also July 10th. I have collected some data from the VJ database and this is what I found:

Percentage of cases received by NVC reported as waiting time from NOA2 to NVC:

7 days :: 28%

14 days :: 71%

21 days :: 92%

28 days :: 96%

35 days :: 98%

So by 5 weeks 98% of the people have had their cases received by the NVC, putting us in the bottom 2% of the population. This information is limited though. It is based only on the VJer's from their timelines (643 couples) so only represents a small portion of all the cases the NVC gets; the data is for NOA2's from April through August, and is only for the CSC (although I believe the VSC and TSC data would be similar).
