My sister is a permanent resident and have a green card. She want to go back home for two weeks, does she need a re-entry permit in order to return to the US?

<07-05-06> sent out K-1 application

<07-12-06> K-1 recieved (transferred to CSC from Nebraska)

<07-17-06> 1st NOA1 recieved

<07-25-06> Touched

<09-18-06> Touched and approved

<10-20-06> Case sent to Bangkok embassy (NOA 2 Recieved)

<10-23-06> Case arrived at Bangkok Embassy (9:53 a.m)

<11-01-06> Packet 3 shipped from BKK

<11-15-06> Packet 3 sent to embassy via express mail (still waiting for packet 3 from embassy)

<12-12-06> Medical exam + Vaccination Done

<12-??-06> Packet 4 Still waiting

<12-28-06> Interview date

<12-29-06> Visa in hand

<01-30-07> POE Seattle, WA

<02-14-07> Applied for SS

<02-17-07> Recieved Packet 3 <----Almost 5 months later (LOL)

<02-24-07> Recieved SS

<02-27-07> Applied for ID

<03-01-07> Officially married<----Wohooo

<03-02-07> Name change @ SSA

<03-12-07> Recieved new SS

<05-02-07> Sent out AOS forms and fee

Oh, she doesn't have a passport. I guess she'll have to get the re-entry permit then. thanx all

Ummm I beleive that she will need a passport... she does not need a re entry permit she has a greencard for that but she will need a passport to even enter another country even if it is her home country. So you need to get a passport for her ASAP.

9-6-05 - Mailed I-129f to Vermont Service Center

9-16-05 - NOA1 received in the mail

9-23-05 - Recieved email for NOA2

9-24-05 - Proposed! (Slightly out of order on this!)

10-11-05 - Packet 3 received in Germany

11-18-05 - Mailed Packet 3 Checklist back in

11-29-05 - Medical and Police Check Completed

1-30-06 - Interview, APPROVED!!

4-1-06 - Together in the US

6-6-06 - Married!

--AOS Filing--

6-28-06 - Mailed I-485 (AOS), I-765 (EAD), I-131 (AP) and lots of $$$ to Chicago

7-7-06 - Recieved NOA1 for all 3 applications

7-26-06 - Biometrics scheduled and completed (for both EAD and AP)

9-18-06 - RFE Mailed. Need translated Birth C.

10-9-06 - RFE Sent back in, Case touched.

10-31-06 - AP and EAD Approved!

*1-23-07 - Interview Date! (received in mail on 12/4/06)

She needs her passport from her 'original' country (Combodia?) - she will be able to get a US passport once she gets her citizenship (she will need to wait 5 years for that - 3 years if she is married to a US citizen.) Good Luck

March 17 Refiled using new I-751 form

April 16 Biometrics done

July 10 Green card production ordered

Feb 04 NOA date

Feb 24 Biometrics

July 7 Received Passport in 3 weeks
